What am I missing? Trainers are all about shiny box fresh joy! All the trainer nerds I know love clean shiny newness.

A link or explanation would help!

Is this a trick?

It feels like a trick?

Trainers much beloved of fashion bloggers - link

I agree, OP. I bloody love a trainer but they look like the sort of thing you'd wear to take the bins out.

I always thought box fresh trainers looked a bit naff....not sure I'd pay to have them weathered for me but I can see the attraction.

They look ready for the bin not brand new and sparkly fresh. I don't like them at all - very much Emperors new clothes!

Shopgirl1 · 09/12/2015 20:12

I think they are awful, can't understand the attraction at all.

I think they're awful too. They look like they've been in my teenage DS's PE Kit for the past year. And the price. Shock

I like them... Not spending that much on trainers though. Would prefer they didn't look quite so 'distressed' but it's kind of good as you don't have to get annoyed when they start looking old as that's the look... Anyway. Horses for courses but I like the white ones with gold star and leopard little padded bit at the back!

Non from me too.

They look a bit shite.

Hmm. I like them. I just ordered a pair today. I don't like box fresh though and they are half price.

Report
KoalaDownUnder · 10/12/2015 11:10

They are nasty. And the price is utterly ridiculous.

They're the kind of things that fashion-victim bloggers buy to keep up with other fashion-victim bloggers.

If I got (was given - I'd never buy them) a pair of those, the first thing I would do is attack them with the Cif and a nailbrush to clean them up.

I don't get it either. That blogger "does my bum look 40" is obsessed with hers. I quite like her outfits but its the disappointment of the scrolldown......ooh nice cape thing, oooh nice scarf, oooh nice waxed jeans.......oh - utterly manky trainers. Hmm

I got some 'lived in look' converse a few years ago. They was brand new but looked like they had a couple of scrapes on. Not as much as those. I love them, looked like they'd come straight out of the seventies, and the material is much looser too so there wasn't any breaking in to do. Most comfortable converse I've had.

Did do they 'urgh they've sent a dirty pair of trainers' to dh though Grin

They are really not my cup of tea. I put them in the wedge trainer category, wrong on all levels.

Oh fashion, you're a funny old cove.

Next they'll be flogging us 'weathered' gussets.....although I'm sure there's a website or two that already sells that particular item.
