Chucked out 30 dresses yesterday ( not a stealth boast) lighthearted

And 30 last week. Most of them were well overdue. My style has really changed. Many of them were midi length which you don't see much of.

There's still plenty to go at and I'm not very good at this sort of thing...and I won't be be heading for a capsule wardrobe.

Has anyone else....gone mad!

Jesus, I don't think I've owned 60 dresses in my life!

I hope by chucked out you meant took to charity shop ;)

I have put away a huge number of dresses as well but not for the same reason. I can't bring myself to bag them for charity as I'm convinced I will lose my baby weight and get back into some of them at least. I've given the ones I don't particularly like to my sister and put the rest in the attic. It is therapeutic though i have left some in my wardrobe to act as a reminder that I need to lose weight!

I hope you gave your surplus dresses to a deserving charity
I have never had 30 dresses, why would you need that many ?
If you have any warm clothes to spare, there are refugees that need them desperately.

Wowser Dowser! That's quite the cull! Congratulations (and I hope you've left yourself something to wear after that!)

Got rid of more than a few dresses there (is that you Victoria B?). I'm trying to imagine what 60 empty hangers look like hanging in a wardrobe Xmas Grin

Like rage I hope your local charity shop are delighted!

I should have added I don't think I have cleared out my wardrobe in twenty years which accounted for my clearout. I've moved houses four times and brought clothes with me that fitted me when i was a very slim 22 year old :)

I see nothing wrong with having lots of clothes, I have bought over 30 x 50s style dresses in the last year alone and I wear them all depending on the season. I paid between £15 and £25 per dress so hardly breaking the bank and they are gorgeous! I also have around 15 summer/beach outfits, 10 or so jeans and top type combos. This is just one of my hanging rails and petticoat rails Grin

There isn't 60 empty hangers in the wardrobe though. These were my winter stock in the shelf above so the others left have gone inside it.

Oh yes, they've gone to the local hospice. I'm rubbish at chucking out though.

DH could hardly stagger up the street with the weight of them all. Some of them would be about 6 years old. I only really chuck out if they are beyond wearing ....and nothing fitted that category.

My DH is just as bad for clothes. Fortunately or unfortunately we have a biggish house with plenty of storage space.

I cant even say they were too big for me. They just fit me a lot better :-(

Still they've gone ;-)

Are you my twin separated at birth Fanny?

DH and I have a walk in closet for clothes etc, etc. these were in a wardrobe in another room.

I bet like me you are never stuck forso etching to wear fanny. My trouble is I just can't resist a bargain.

I know if were to do an equivalent cull in other aspects of life (paperwork Angry) I would feel lighter and more carefree!

I think well done Dowser!

Thank you I have periodic paper culls. Still have a lot of paperwork relating to my aunt as iwas her deputy and my mum also with dementia.

I keep it in case it's ever needed.

I've lived in this house a long, long time. There's a lot of stuff in the cupboards.

I'm a sentimental hoarder ( kids drawings etc) but now and again I take the bull by the horns and get stuck in .

I wish I could bring myself to do it. Well done..
Loads of stuff from Hobbs & coast hang sadly in my cupboards and shoes that don't see the light of day.
EBay's a pain in the arse!

We should do a clothes/shoe/bag swap, what is no longer loved by the owner, could be someone else's new favourite

Well done! I have had multiple clearouts in the last year and still seem to have loads of clothes I just don't wear. I really want to get rid of like 80% of it but am terrified of ending up rebuying things I've sold/donated so I always hold stuff back (and then end up chucking it the next time I have a mass clearout!)

Dowser I love my clothes, I have 6 dresses still in wrappers and three pairs of shoes that are being wrapped up for the kids to give me for Christmas. The 6 dresses cost me just £98 in the black Friday sales, the shoes cost me a whopping £200 but they were also reduced and i'm a sucker for irregular choice shoes. I have lots and lots of shoes too. And I may have lots of outfits but I still can never decide what to wear!
