Blue red lipstick

I am after a nice lipstick which won't make my teeth look yellow, I think it needs to be blue red? I have dark hair but quite fair skin, mid brown eyes. I suit black , red and jewel coloured clothes.
I bought a mac one last year but it's a bit to bricky-purpley. Expensive mistake. Wouldn't mind something mid range like LOreal , Revlon.

Really Red by Revlon is a brilliant blue red, one of the very few I can wear.

If you ever wish to go mad on the budget though, this one is amazing.

Mac Russian Red is blue toned and usually looks great with dark hair and pale skin.

MAC Russian Red. Much more blue-toned than Ruby Woo.

Ruby woo is indeed the holy grail if red lipstick. Too pricey for me for everyday wear. Rimmel Kate 111 kiss of life is a good dupe but although it's a matte it's nowhere near as matte as ruby woo, still very nice though.

Heavens! I came on here to say Ruby Woo by MAC, believe it or not ...

Yy Russian red is more blue but ruby woo suits more people.

Isn't it funny; my colouring suits Russian Red far better. I do love Ruby Woo though. And Mac lippies in general

Neither Ruby Woo or Russian Red suit me because of the blue tone, I do like Lady Danger though and Dangerous is a nice shade of red but I find it difficult to apply - it's a very dry matte (it's a Retro Matte) and drags, but using balm first means that it just slips off and looks patchy on application.

I spend far too much money in Mac.

The retro mattes get very hard when they're cold which makes them practically impossible to apply smoothly, IME. Is worth poping the tube in your bra a pocket for 20 minutes or half an hour if they're chilled.

Vibrant blue-based cherry reds contrast with pink undertones in fair skin to make lips pop. They also happen to make teeth look whiter. It's a youthful red shade, for sure

Thanks for the tip Lettuce, I'll stick it in my bra in the morning and give it a try Grin

Keep try one of the redder lip butters by Revlon? I have Velvet Red and I had another one too.
For blue reds I too have Ruby Woo but the Rimmel Kate Moss 001 s a nice long lasting red.

Lettuce that worked a treat! Wink

Yes keepon, as grim said, the Revlon lip butters are worth looking at, and they also do various coloured balms (in a chunky crayon style) including one which is a lip stain. I have one of the ColorBurst Matte Balms and it lasts pretty well.

I don't really struggle so much now. I'm quite good at judging colours - years of practice and learning from mistakes made Wink

I'm not great at telling different reds apart unless I really look online first and see how they look on other people. It seems much easier to get a feel for how they look in reality, even if the people wearing it online have completely different colouring to you.

For example, I am not a fan of MAC ruby woo - it always seems much more orangey than when you compare it to MAC Russian Red (which I own).

It will also depend what sort of lipstick you are after. Russian red is VERY VERY matte. It's very drying, so it's helpful to slather on lip balm beforehand, then wipe it off before putting the lipstick on.

You can tone it down if you just use a little of it in addition to the lip balm, or you can wear it as a strong colour. But the colour is STRONG!

I'd also recommend Revlon's "black cherry". It might look a little goth if you really layer it on heavily, but if you use a light touch it seems to be almost universally flattering. And especially lovely in winter!
