Blue dress... what tights/shoes

So I've managed to find a cobaltish blue dress for a night out in December - what tights and shoes should I be looking at. Is black ok to wear with it? I will probably need a little jacket with it too, so if I went for a black jacket would black legs/feet be ok too?

It's a meal with my OH and my best friends, so I don't need to look too dressy but want to feel like I've made some effort.

(I can supply a photo of the dress later once I've picked it up is needed!)

You could go black but nude would look better.

Id go for opaques and black heels (but I never have bare legs), then a little sparkly/spangly jacket

Black jacket and shoes and either no tights or nude tights

Nude shoes too? And what about jacket? It's something to keep the chill off - I don't love my arms but don't hate them.... Since having dd 2.5 years ago I've lost all sense of what looks ok!

Thank you!

I could do bare legs, I could start showing them some love and get them looking better than they are.
And black shoes could be ones I have already so then just a jacket to find!

You are all wonderful

Oooo penny I love that! And could be worn with other outfits too over the festive period.

I think black tights look ok with blue.

Nude legs and black shoes would be fine, maybe a non-tacky fur shrug/jacket?
I've worn hot pink shoes with cobalt & navy and it looked good if I may say Wink

I'd love hot pink shoes! Just because I love pink. But fear I would look at them lovingly and then never actually wear them!

I am on the look out for a jacket/shrug type thing. Does the fact there is more of me than there probably should be make a difference on what I should look for? I'm around (and round!) Size 16/18. I like my boobs, they aren't overly big but there is enough. And my bum is more than ample, the dress skims over this nicely without making it look larger... Would a jacket finish at the wrong point?!

I suppose there is a risk of a jacket making it unflattering if it ended in the wrong place. If you were only going to take it off when you get there and put it on when you leave could you just wear a smart coat? Or maybe a wrap/pashmina?
Re the hot pink shoes, I actually have two pairs in different styles and wear them surprisingly often! They really liven up a pair of jeans and top, can be worn with the various dresses with pink in as well as compliment unexpected colours. I've worn them with blue, emerald green and grey and they worked brilliantly - worth the investment!

I think black tights are good for daytime wear.

I think evening, nude looks better.

Bare legs ? In December? Brrr!

Any recommendations for good nude tights? Black tights intend just to go for full coverage and that's that.
Nudes I used to have a really good pair and then forgot where I got them and put weight on so they don't fit any more.

Is m&s best for tights?

I don't think I was this clueless before having dd - but I also wasn't a single mum and had spare money to do what I liked with! So now buying things for me is quite rare and I like to make sure it's worth it. This is also a very rare night out for me and seem to be worrying over it in a stupid amount.

I have now included a picture of the dress.

Lovely dress. M&S are good for nude tights. Or hold ups. Never black tights with the blue dress. My mother would have a fit. And I'd go for nude heels.

I'm veering towards nude tights and am looking at nude shoes too - with a view to what I would wear again.
I'd love big heels that look great but I won't be comfy or wear them again.

I'm happy to admit to being old before my time in shoes

As long as you feel good and are comfortable is what matters. Nude is good then!!!
