jumpsuits- just for the tall & curvy?

I love the idea of a jumpsuit for Xmas party (cocktail attire required for the one I have to go to). I am 5'4", small boobs, size 10 on top and bigger bum/thighs, usually size 12 on bottom half and a short waist- so prom dresses and things belted at waist don't look good on me. Would it suit me? Do you need to be tall to carry it off?

I think it's more about body shape than height. I'm 5"7 a size twelve but with big boobs(32ff) and a square bum. I also have the shortest body I look about 4"11 when driving. I look a bugger in them.

Maybe go and try a few on or order a few from somewhere like asos and have a trying on session.

I'm 5ft 9 and a size 14 with big boobs and I actually look like a swollen Oompa Loompa in a jumpsuit. I haven't found one which doesn't strain in all the wrong places! If I were you, I'd try a few on, OP, get a feel for what shape might suit you.

Thank you. Hilarious! I think I will be joining you on the oompa loompa looks. But I might try some. A friend of mine looked amazing in one but she is a narrow build, size 8. Hmph.

Same sort of height and size as agentcooper with a super long torso thrown in. I look fucking awful in them. Might get away with a strapless one but otherwise it's truly laughably awful. Plus, HOW do people wee etc? How? In a cramped, possibly not hygienic loo somewhere?

I bought one the other day and look hilarious in it. I'm 5'3 and size 12, big boobs and bum. Its going back pronto.

I am a fit but curvy size 12 just bought a black one in monsoon; high necked long sleeved. It's the first one that has ever suited me so maybe just keep trying the on I felt fab in mine (sorry don't know how to link) and dh reaction was fantastic.

I have two wide legged jersey ones. I am 5ft 7 and sz8 but with a waist and I love them. I think they definitely need waist definition to work and it took me ages to find one where the waist fell in the right place.. that's why they are such a pain to buy I think.

I am tall and they look vile on me

I am 5ft 6 ins, bought one from Jaeger . I looked ridiculous in it ...back it went . Made for someone much taller, but their clothes usually fit me well.

I'm 6 foot and curvy, they suit me. All depends on the cut and fit but generally I think height is a bonus with jumpsuits.

They are a pain to get on and off, especially on a night out. That alone may be enough to put you off.

I have 3 from Phase 8 and they are lovely. Worth a try on at least Smile

i'm 5'4" and love jss- def have to find the right one -as with any garment. They lengthen and slim down everyone - if you get the right fit .

I'm 5 ft 5 and curvy (10-12 on top, 12 on bottom). I've got a fab Top Shop palm print jumpsuit and plan on trying on one in my local boutique this weekend.

I had thought only for tall in the past too. No idea if they suit curves!

i'm curvy too and as long as the js skims the curves and has the waist at your waist etc, it will prob look good.

Not curvy , tall and slender I think to be able to pull them off..

amarmai I have been behind people wearing print jumpsuits and they do tend to emphasise the bottom area...

However black is slimming and yes if they fit well around where they should do, then it's fine.

My top shop one was much admired this summer.

I think it partly depends on the jumpsuit….I have tried a few on that looked terrible but I have an Issa one that I absolutely love. I am 8-10 and only 5'5 but very long legs for my height.

GreenPotato · 14/11/2015 19:39

I'm 5'10", long-bodied and pear-shaped (but not overweight and can look slim in some things). I tried one on this summer... OMG I have never seen myself in a less flattering outfit. Just AWFUL. It made me look about twice as wide at the hips and thighs, and not in a "curvy" or sexy way, just in an elephant way. While the rest of me looked shapeless and weird. I was gutted as it had a lovely print, but no just no.

So I agree it's not about height, it must be about finding the right fit for you and your shape, and trying lots on. They can look amazing and chic on some people. Maybe if you have time it would be worth having a personal shopper thing and asking them to help?

Don't bother if you've got a long torso like me. I couldn't straighten up in one Confused

pootle I agree with you about jumpsuits...

I have long legs, long body and it is definitely about finding the right jumpsuit.

I'm 5"7 but with a long body and short legs ( lucky me Confused) and they look awful on me - was so disappointed!

Amarmai, what jumpsuits do you recommend? I am a similar height to you - I find it tricky as petite tends to be a wee bit short but regular trousers too long. Thanks!

i wd choose the regular length and put up the hem as one of js no- nos is too short a curve from behind and around the crotch- looks as bad from behind as in front as v.little give because it's attached at the waist. Also allows you extend leg length with high heels. I Like H&M but not been there recently.

I have this - I'm a size 10 with hips but quite lean on top. Not cheap but I love it (I did take up the hem though and I'm 5ft 8inches) www.baukjen.com/uk/shop/baukjen/jumpsuits/felton-jumpsuit-caviar-black.htm
