Yay or nay? Frumpy or classic?
I'm 45 if that helps...

I'm 47 and bought a lovely one from the Jaeger sale last Winter. I think it looks great. This one:
www.jaegeroutlet.com/Alpaca-Belted-Coat/590111J,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_590111J_color=25800&dwvar_590111J_size=14&start=1&cgid=women-coats-outlet&prefn1=refinementColor&prefv1=Brown

Or they have these:
<a class="break-all" href="http://www.jaegeroutlet.com/women-coats-outlet/women-coats-outlet,en_GB,sc.html#www.jaegeroutlet.com/women-coats-outlet/women-coats-outlet,en_GB,sc.html?prefn1=refinementColor&prefv1=Brown%7cCamel&start=0" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">www.jaegeroutlet.com/women-coats-outlet/women-coats-outlet,en_GB,sc.html#www.jaegeroutlet.com/women-coats-outlet/women-coats-outlet,en_GB,sc.html?prefn1=refinementColor&prefv1=Brown%7cCamel&start=0

I just bought one from jaegar as well and I love it. Wear it with jeans and casual clothing too - it won't look frumpy. Just avoid getting one too long if you are a shortarse otherwise you can look a bit swamped imo

I have a black jaeger coat and I adore it. I highly recommend their winter coats

Which one mowglik?

I can't decide between these - which is the most stylish, won't date, will also look good with casual clothes?

Funnel neck

three button coat

City coat

I'm 5ft 9 so can carry off the length, just a bit porky, but am working on that...

Thanks so much for your help, I have just bought this from Jaeger with £60 off, so fab price and lovely coat, but family reaction was underwhelming... I'm 5'7 so length not a problem. I have a red one from Jigsaw the same style/length and wear it loads

It's lovely, that's the only one I've seen in the flesh, in John Lewis. So soft!

The answer to the original question was yay! Always a classic. Wear it with dark jeans and a white shirt.

Always a classic, love them. I had a great one from Next's petite range a few years ago but it's gone bobbly AF. Can't find anything like it (simple, single button) so am seriously considering paying like £200 to have a £60 coat copied by a tailor.

I found the Jaegar wrap coat a little bulky and long.

This is a better fit for me www.karenmillen.com/wool-longline-camel-trenchcoat/coats-&-jackets/karenmillen/fcp-product/01462021

Definitely classic. I've got one this year. Managed to find a cashmere one in a vintage shop for £15 which fits me like a dream! I feel dead grown up in it Grin

I'd agree SheGot. I have the Jaeger wrap coat and it's very long - I reckon you probably need to be at least 5'8" to carry it off. You also need to be on the thin side for it not to look bulky when fastened, but it's a great coat for lanky folk.

BeaBoo I have a mid length vintage Harrods camel coat I paid £20 for in a charity shop in N Yorks. It's lovely and could have been made to measure. DH reckons someone probably died in it, but I couldn't care less - I love a good chazzer find.

Jumping on this thread but is Jaeger Outlet the same quality as the main retailer or is it 'outlet/seconds'? Some of the coats look great value and I'm presuming they are still good quality?

I love them on other people but always feel like I'm channeling Ronnie Barker in Open All Hours when I try them on.
