I'm in need of a winter jacket. I have a smart one so would like to get a more casual one with a hood.
I've fallen for this one but I can't decide if it's just a little too expensive. I tried it on before I looked at the price tag and it fits so well. I'm quite petite so prefer my coats to be fitted and I'm not a fan of the duvet coats. This one fits so well Sad
Can anyone suggest an alternative in a similar style or is this style a bit dated now? And I should be looking at something completely different?

Can't see a link in your OP, but I've bought the Kelsall and I love it. Nips in a bit at the waist, no Michelin Man effect.

Could anyone recommend an alternative? Before I splurge?

Splurge!!! It will last forever.
Lands End do quilted parkas, but not half so stylish.

I bought a Barbour parka the other week and I'm in love! It's super warm, waterproof and has loads of handy pockets.

I was hesitant about getting it, but DP was with me and made the point that I'll have it for years and that £250 spent now will save me spending £90 or so every winter for the next five years.

Barbour is nice, but it wont last forever. My experience is a couple of years before it starts looking worn with small holes in the sleeves (around the stitching and where the fabric folds). They do offer repairs though.

Also keep in mind that if you get a waxed one that needs re-proofing, it's a pain to do (they do offer to do this, but not for free). Not doing it means your jacket will not be waterproof. Not all of their jackets and coats need this though.

You could have a look in the Barbour outlets. The Bicester one is pretty decent and I was told they were expecting coats and jackets this week.

I have a couple of Barbour jackets in Navy and Cream, both are at least 4 years old and look in great condition. I live in the Navy one during super-cold weather.
