Style and beauty

quick question

So am currently on holiday. A 'style/beauty rep visited hotel resort yesterday selling 'tan accelerators'.

I checked the ingredients and all were plant based (aloe vera, some essential
oils, etc). No parabens, petroleum, etc.

Dd1 wants to accelerate her tan. I have no idea how this product would facilitate that. Does anyone know? I asked the rep what the active ingredient was in them to do this and she was vague (I guess didn't know or it's a scam).

Has anyone ever used tan accelerators? How do they work?

My DDs use Sunbeds and tan when they can naturally.

My eldest and her friends have tried the tablets etc and have never seen a difference.

If it's a rub on cream, what your paying for is to keep your skin hydrated and if there are enough of the oils used, then there will be some skin conditioning going on.

The ingredients are similar to aftersun.

My worry would be burning and causing a prickly heat type reaction.

Can she not just use a self tan?

I can't see any self tan in the shops here (fuerteventura). I suppose there's not the demand. I Suspected the acceleration was just hydration.

I wouldn't buy anything that is claiming to accelerate skin damage tbh. I thought, perhaps naively, that in this day and age people didn't go out in the sun to deliberately tan themselves let alone go on sunbeds, more that people slathered on high factor sunscreen to prevent burning. I'd just wait until she gets home and buy some self tan. She'll still get some colour even using a high SPF, but anything else could just be dangerous in terms of skin damage.

Birds I hope your daughters know about the risks of sunbeds and tanning in general! Alas the only safe tan is a fake one.

Next time take THIS
Just apply after a shower every night.
Tan will be amazing.
Then keep using it every couple of days when you get back and the tan will last and last.
For the current question - I have no idea!
