Perfumes for 14 year old

DNiece is turning 14 and I'd like to buy her some 'proper' perfume rather than the 'So' and Impulse stuff she's had to date.

What do you think would be a great starter perfume? Something light and fresh (and not over £50 - love her but am a bit broke!).

I was wondering about Daisy which has bottle appeal, or Diorissimo which I always remember smelling like sweet peas.

Can't take her shopping for perfume as we live miles away.

I seem to remember Tommy Girl being very popular at that age. It basically smells like peaches.

A Touch of Pink by Lacoste is suitable. And a lot of girls go nuts over Viva La Juicy cos the bottle is a big fun blingy thing.

The DKNY Delicious perfumes were very popular with my dd and her friends at that age.

For light and fresh you could try the Body Shop Fijian Water Lotus which is lovely.

I liked Jean Paul Gaultier and SJP Lovely as a teenager :-)

Daisy would be a great choice though - would have been chuffed to bits with that when I was 14!

I second the DKNY perfumes, I particularly like the red one. Amazon do really good perfume at low prices. I got a bottle of Vera Wang Princess (50ml) for £25 and Lovestruck for £20 (100ml). I also purchased a bottle of Diesel Lovestruck (50ml) for myself from Amazon which was far cheaper than buying it from Boots.

DD 14 likes Meow by Katy Perry, and various Benefit scents.

I bought her some Anna Sui perfumes recommended on here, and although she agreed the bottles were very pretty and she quite liked them, she really wanted something with a recognisable brand. This surprised me, she isn't generally very brand-orientated.

what about one of those little selection boxes of miniatures?

daisy or any of the flankers would be lovely, as would Dot in the same brand. any of the vera wang princess range as well. dkny be delicious and flankers are again a good choice as mentioned. all of them are easily recognised for a brand concious teen and all of them smell nice, not too overpowering but pretty and suitable for a teen. Ghost are nice as well, they have a good few to choose from and are nice scents, i especially like the original in the tall pale blue bottle and the deep night flanker which is in a purple crescent moon shape bottle

I wear Kenzo's Flower as I find most other perfumes too strong and it's really delicate.

Tanya Burr and all those other overgrown teenagers on YouTube love Daisy. And the lighter flanker, can't remember the name.

From the sleb perfume world Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani all do scents that are actually quite reasonably regarded in the fragrance world). Something like that could be a good intro scent.

Britney Spears Circus Fantasy is really lovely. In my youth I liked the Versace Jeans collection (red jeans, blue jeans etc.) which come in a funky tin.

Diorissimo would be a bit much unless she has very sophisticated taste!

If she likes light and fresh then Daisy would be a good idea, also the DKNY Delicious range, maybe D&G Light Blue? Ghost fragrances are popular with younger girls and are good value. Touch of Pink by Lacoste, maybe one of the Benefit fragrances?

Also Boots are doing a set of various fragrance samples plus a £36 voucher for any fragrance, so she could try before she buys (the set is £36 which I think is great value).

My first thought was D&G Light Blue too, and any of the Marc Jacobs would be a safe bet too I think.

My dd has asked for a hollister perfume for xmas, the descriptions are nice but I am going to go to the shop to choose one, she said there was 2 she liked. They are aimed at teens so might be suitable, they are £24 or two for £34 I think.

My d1 (20) used to really like the Kate Moss ones, although I don't know if they even still exist! She now likes Zara perfumes for cheap stuff. Also many CK ones, Paul Smith and Ghost.

Oh yeah Paul Smith Rose is not too pricey and might be nice.

Go to perfume parlour website and get 3ml perfume oils for under £3. Has all the copies of perfumes you could think of. So long lasting as well. A nice clean scent they do is a copy of dove soap Smile

It used to be anais anais back in my teens (1980s).

It's nicer than the celebrity perfumes, I think. They all smell of cheap penny sweets to me.

I wore a Benefit perfume at age 15, it was an Eau de Toilette and it was the first one they made. Maybe Baby I think it was called x
