Waterproof boots for the fat of leg

I am looking for some boots that are comfy and waterproof for dog walking and general countryside living.

The problem is I have fat legs and not just big calves but thick ankles too. I went to try on some Dubarrys but I couldn't even get them past my foot SadBlush

I can barely get wellies on either side I'm not sure where to look. The whole thing has left me feeling disgusting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have large calves too and these Sea Salt ones fit a treat.

I found some slightly shorter than ordinary wellies. They are Hunters in a 'lace up' style. I have exactly the same problem as you with finding any kind of boots to fit.Sad

Ilse Jacobsen Hornbaek make lace up wellies in a good colour range which lace to the knee and are therefore more accommodating of a large calf size. Here is the link: www.ilsejacobsen.com/

Sadly, it would seem they don't deliver to the UK yet. I bought mine direct from a lady who imported them wholesale years ago, but there are UK stockists. I know Celtic Sheepskins had them at one time, and some upmarket country and garden retailers. Sorry, it turned out a bit less help than I hoped. I loved mine but wore them out. You may also find le Chameau a bit more generous than other makes. DH has the same problem with his Dubarry boots, which are gathering dust in the hall!

You can get the lace up wellies from Sarah Raven.

Thank you all for your replies. It good to know there are a few options.

I'm off to investigate.

Aigle wellies have expanding sides but are very expensive

I love all the Aigle wellies, it's a shame I can't wear them all.

How about country boots? The Dublin River boot is wide, I just found the dimensions:

Du Barry do ones for people with wide calfs - was it the wider ones that you tried?
