Breastfeeding and carrying baby weight. Do I have to look like a frump?

I have a 12 week old, am breastfeeding. Baby is usually in a sling (hates buggy and car seat Sad ) so whatever I'm wearing gets big dribble/sick/sweat patches on it.

I feel like such a frump! None of my clothes fit and it seems silly to wear anything other than Jersey because of sick/sweat marks. I live in skinnies, a vest and a bigger t shirt over the top but it's not my style at all (vintage dresses are more my jam). Pre baby number two I had a flat tummy, size 10 on top and 12 on bottom, and my figure snapped back pretty quick after my first, so I'm used to wearing stuff to accentuate my waist - which is non-existent at moment.

Please please please give me some ideas for a size 14 pear shape with a mum tum?! Or do I have to just embrace the scumminess for s short while?

Hello are you me?! (Apart from I now seem to be a 16). I have no suggestions apart but lots of sympathy!

I feel the same. Don't want to buy too much new stuff as I plan to wait to buy nicer things that don't need access for BFing.
For now I make myself feel better by doing my make up and hair (doesn't take long).

I have bought 2 pairs of jeans in a bigger size and am rocking the poncho look this autumn (tk maxx is my friend here!) so am wearing 1 or 2 stretchy base layers from uniqlo/gap (vest or long sleeved top depending on weather) then cardi/poncho/wrap over the top. Also have a few sloppy jumpers/sweatshirts. Am restricting my colours to black/navy/grey and burgundy until February. TBH I find having a uniform and sticking to it for the first six months is easiest and actually means I am at least coordinated which looks better, if a bit dull. will hen allow myself a lovely new spring wardrobe

You sound like me too-my baby is nearly 12 weeks. Baby wearing is just not flattering on a flabby middle! Pre kids my tummy was my best bit so it sucks that it isn't good any more.
I wish I was more inspired, but my uniform sounds a lot like yours. Have you looked at the 'can I breastfeed in it' Facebook page? Might be good for ideas.

I am at least heartened to know I'm not alone!!

Freebuttonbee ism still wearing my maternity jeans! I bought a pair of M&S jeggings in size 14 but they just accentuate the tum - the waistband is tight-ish but seems to have room below it for a belly rather than sucking you in! Comfy but URGH.

Lilipot perhaps I should just embrace it like you and save my money for a rejuvenation come spring! Sounds like a pretty good plan.

thelovecats I've only recently discovered that FB page but had muted it as there were too many updates. I will go have a browse.

I have found that its very hard to babywear and not look like a frump/like you live in a yurt, especially when your baby is so young. I bought some really gorgeous slings (from Oscha and Firespiral) and then did my makeup and hair, that made me feel better about my jeans and t shirts, which hid the mum tum and c section overhang.
DS is a toddler now and I still wear him on my back a lot, no more mum tum or overhang but I've embraced the practical clothes permanently - we live on a ranch.

I've been in this same rut for 9 months. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in that my little one doesn't like being carried so much and breastfeeding is less often these days. Because she's mobile now she's stuck to me less so less sick and sweat marks which is really nice.

I just kind of sucked it up and wore skinny jeans, stretchy vest and larger top layered for months but I did also buy a few proper breastfeeding tops for when I wanted to just wear one top and look a bit smarter, and also got a couple of breastfeeding dresses. My favourite is a black maxi from the essential one which I can carry her in without too many lumps and bumps appearing and I feel relatively well put together. Its also nice enough that I can wear it still when I stop feeding. Another one I have is from mamaway and that's a navy pattern, doesn't seem to show sick or sweat marks and is quite flattering jersey material. I figured that investing in a couple of bits made sense when the bulk of my wardrobe was stuff I hated. I wear jeans day to day then trousers and a nicer top if I'm going somewhere and then dresses when it's nice or going somewhere nicer. Got a few standard wrap dresses in t k maxx too which are great and can always wear a top under too.
