I fancy having my nails done - how much ish does shellac cost?

LemonRedwood Wed 09-Sep-15 21:58:05

I pay ??30 for mine. Gels at the same salon are ??40. Prefer shellac for price and doesn't damage my nails as much.

LemonRedwood Wed 09-Sep-15 21:58:34

The ?? is a pound sign

goldglittershitter Wed 09-Sep-15 22:00:05

I pay ??15. Think it varies massively on where u r too. Am NW.

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:00:33

Thank you. I'm not bothered about gels I don't think, cba with upkeep. Just fancy having my nails done 'properly' for a change instead of farting around doing it myself.

The pound signs come up funny when I type them on my phone too!

LemonRedwood Wed 09-Sep-15 22:00:44

Also, get about 2-3 weeks wear out of shellac without chipping and when it starts to grow out, I just paint over with normal polish until I go back to the salon again for removal or re-doing

LemonRedwood Wed 09-Sep-15 22:01:22

I'm SE. Everything's fucking expensive sad

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:02:08

Oh! It took me that long to type, I didn't see your reply gold!

I'll look up some local salons to ring around over the next couple of days.

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:03:13

I expected them all to be much of a muchness which is why I asked confused

goldglittershitter Wed 09-Sep-15 22:03:30

It is isn't it Lemon, big difference in our nail costs.

goldglittershitter Wed 09-Sep-15 22:04:03

Oh n no prob lucysmam smile .

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:05:17

You don't have to go back for them removed, do you? I could diy soaking them in acetone to take off?

nottheOP Wed 09-Sep-15 22:06:12

On groupon ??9/10, mobile is ??12/15, salon is ??15/35, depending on how nice it is and how much of a manicure they do. Sometimes it's more of a file and paint.

CremeEggThief Wed 09-Sep-15 22:06:51

??15-20 in the North East.

nottheOP Wed 09-Sep-15 22:07:26

I remove with acetone and foil.

LemonRedwood Wed 09-Sep-15 22:10:13

I DIY with acetone and foil, but never do it as well as the pros and find I do damage which has to grow out. Suspect I'm always rushing it.

My place remove for free. Just have to be bothered to go!

lanbro Wed 09-Sep-15 22:12:40

Nothing but my friend / nail technician charges ??15 for gels, for which Shellac is a brand name. Easily removed at home with foil and acetone

Ilikesweetpeas Wed 09-Sep-15 22:15:47

Mine are 18 pounds and 8 to remove. Looked amazing and lasted well

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:16:25

I did not know that, lanbro, I thought gels involved tips? & layers?

Maybe I'm thinking acrylic?

XiCi Wed 09-Sep-15 22:17:42

15-20 quid here in the NW
They usually don't charge for taking it off, I usually just get another colour put straight on though.
I wouldn't recommend taking it off yourself, you can really damage the nail if you don't know what you're doing

twirlypoo Wed 09-Sep-15 22:24:01

If you want tips, you want extensions with a shellac finish I think?

I am North East and pay ??24 for extensions with gel, or ??18 for Infils.

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 09-Sep-15 22:25:50

??25 for shellac / gellish which includes removal . Last 3 weeks perfectly .

SlightlyJaded Wed 09-Sep-15 22:26:59

??20 West London. Last until they are so grown out it's silly.

And then you can get them removed (Free if then having a manicure at my salon) Or you can just peel them off yourself whilst watching tv

lucysmam Wed 09-Sep-15 22:29:24

Oh, no, twirly, I cba with tips or anything requiring toooooo much maintenance! Just nice, long lasting, nails will do me fine smile

WashPosh Wed 09-Sep-15 22:44:35

??25 inc removal of previous shellac and proper mani. Same if no removal. West London.
