plus size autumn/winter

dreamcometrue · 29/08/2015 08:01

I know there was a plus size thread earlier this year but I thought we could have an autumn/winter one to share ideas and things people are looking for.
I'm a size 22 with big boobs and belly.
I like wearing skinny jeans and jumpers/long sleeve tops with ankle boots but then I faff around with scarves as I worry about my belly.
I would love a pinafore dress.

I'm in but have no time this morning. I'll be back later. I have several things on my autumn wishlist.

I'm in.
Looking for new ideas as I always seem to wear slight variations of the same thing.
I am a size 20 but have small boobs, a flabby belly and very chunky fat legs.
I love tunics but can't wear skinny jeans or leggings and skirts or dresses need to cover my knees.

I'm in. Having a wardrobe cull and clear down tomorrow so i can go through outfits and identify what I need.

I was a 24 at the start of the year and am now between an 18/20 - still more 20. This is presenting a bit of a challenge.

But I also have a mass of larger stuff that I am going to sort for ebay or charity.

My main problem is that although I am aware of what suits me and is flattering I REALLY WANT lots of things that

a. I can't afford
b. at 5'2 I am way too short for and
c. at size 16 bottom 18 top will just not flatter me.

I could solve one problem by losing weight but I have no chance of getting any taller and even less chance of getting any richer Grin

I understand that magicpuppy - I am trying to work hard at wanting what I have got, IYSWIM?

I really like this style of dress
hush I usually wear an 18 on top but have heard that Hush sizing is generous.

Something else I'm on the lookout for is black trousers cigarette/straightleg for work. Wide leg make me look gargantuan. Bootleg make me look mumsy (I am but don't want to look it! ) any ideas?
Magic that's a lovely dress. I found some lovely ones last year on asos but I find there website difficult to trawl through.

Have you tried Next for the trousers? Good range of sizes on this style

I've had some new really good quality 7/8 trousers off ebay recently, Jaeger brand. Also Next capris for work. Like you I feel like a galleon under sail if I wear flappy trousers so I always go for tapered or slim leg.

I hate wide leg trousers too. Recommend Boden Chelsea turn-ups.

For autumn have bought so far a tunic from Studio Eight, the new Phase Eight spinoff, in a deep cobalt; a lovely grey-blue rib knitted cotton long tunic -or dress if you're short -and a Boden dress that really fits me well - the Elena fixed wrap in browns and blues.

Also about to order a plain long top in a deep Bordeaux - a colour I love which is in again this autumn.

Sorry, the ribbed cotton I iris from Poetry.

Oh, what's the new Studio 8 stuff like? I haven't seen anything yet but found the website and like some of the dresses.

I bought some great black trousers from Elvi. They were really good for a 20, 22 etc, but the size 18s i needed were mislabelled and I had 3 pairs from them to try all the same issue and the 16s were way to small. So I really need to find trousers too. I'll look out Next ...

I've purch-aysed some trousers! Slim fit from asos. I bought some ages ago in a size 24 which were huge but they hadn't got size 22 and now they have so fingers crossed.

I'm around an 18 on the bottom and 16 on the top in most places. I had to get rid of loads of clothes after losing 3.5 stone over last year due to ill health. I've had to rebuild my summer clothes completely and although some of my winter things should be ok as I'd lost nearly 2 stone by Christmas last year, I may need a few bits and pieces Grin

I got a pair of straight slim leg black trousers in H&M plus size section but had to size up to a 20. I know what you mean about bootleg or wide leg trousers - they just make me look huge!

maybe an empire line pinafore, op? The 60/70? revival kind have a belt +buckle just under the bust and an A line skirt.

Well done on the trouser purchase dream. I find trousers almost impossible to buy.

I meant to mention two blogs that I have started to look at mrsbebeblog.co.uk and daniellevanier.co.uk. - both plus-size, down to earth bloggers.

I'm almost 6' tall and a size 18. I live in wide leg trousers :-/ I wish I could wear skinny jeans but my hips can't deal with the attention. I don't even know what my shape is. Apple I think, but a big one. Also I seem to have fallen down the Boden trap and can't get out. Need new sources!

That's great dream
I'm looking for a grey tunic top ( not Jersey) size 20 I had a lovely smock type one which I loved but I gave it away when I lost weight. I've now put my weight back on and am regretting it and want another similar. I can't remember where it was from, a catalogue I think. Anyone seen anything like that around please?

*MrsMummy, was it a boden one? I found a grey tunic in Evans the other day (surprisingly ok) but was jersey ...

Another vote for Boden Chelsea turn-ups. Size 18 true to size and very comfy dye to the stretchiness of the material.
I have recently got these M&S jeans after years of not wearing jeans at all due to being unable to find a decently fitting pair. Very well fitting and flattering. You may need to size down though due to the usual M&S vanity sizing nonsense. Also, fortunately, no Per Una branding visible on the outside! Smile

I need a winter smart coat, shortish and preferably wool or wool blend.

I am large of nork and so double breasted is probably out, and I need a 22-24.

I have looked in loads of places and not seen anything that really grabs me.
Can anyone help?

I bought a lovely coat last year in M&S - I think it was about ??70. It may be too long though - just below my knee (5'7"). All the more pea-coat shorty things I've seen are double breasted.

I have had a good coat from BHS of all places though I think they stop at 22.
