How can I 'fill the pores' of bleache blonde hair so I can go brunette...?

Apart from going to the hairdresser and getting it done there? I'm painfully broke.

I've gone from bleach blonde to dark blonde but it's obvious that it won't last and I'd really like to go brunette.....
