Why can I not find that one hair style that works?

Argh! I can't work out what to do with my hair at all. I'm finally happy with the colour after dying it hundreds of times and it's finally in a good condition.

But I never feel like the hair cut suits me! I've had a pixie cut, endless bobs at different lengths/shapes, shoulder length - nothing. I'm now on a mission to grow it and it's just past my shoulders now, but I've had a google at sites telling you your face shape and it says I'm oblong - and all the sites say oblong and long hair don't work?!

I have quite a long forehead so I'm wondering if a fringe is what is missing, but I've got quite a hippy style and I imagine fringes look a bit too preened for me?

Any ideas, anyone?
