What will you be wearing this autumn?

I've recently had twins, I'm in desperate need of a shopping trip. I have enough to make do with for the rest of the so called summer so I'm thinking of a/w wear.

Any of you planned your wardrobes yet or have any ideas what will be in? After months of maternity wear I've forgotten what suits me.

I'm on a low budget due to mat pay.

The website has been down for about 12 hours so hopefully some answers to come as I'd like to know as well!

I just wear dresses all year round. When the weather starts getting cooler. I just wear them with tights and boots and jackets to match. I'm lucky that I don't really feel the cold

Ok. Hot off the press with my new Marie Claire magazine: tweed if you are into the preppy look, with loafers and neat cardigans, Red, anything really. Shoes, bag, coat. Burgundy if red is too bold. Bold prints and matallics if you want the 80's look (and are skinny)- no shoulder pads though. High heeled ankle boots or over the knee boots, whatever suits you. Smallish, saddle bag style shoulder bags, preferably in snakeskin print or burgundy. Pearl jewellery. Suede and sheepskin. Pussy bow blouses with ladylike bags, tapered trousers or A line/fitted skirts. Does any of that appeal?

Leggings/jeggings with tunic/longline tops plus a cardigan with boots

I'm interested too. I was going to post a "what kind of scarf are you buying" thread. I might to pregnant so accessories are really all I'm confident to buy really at the minute.

Just to say - I am not doing the 80's look. Did it the first time around. Everything else is possible!!! Never stopped doing the pearl jewellery!!!

Milly some lovely ideas there especially tweed, pussy bow blouses and loafers. I do like a lot of vintage looking items and as I'm definitely not skinny find they suit my shape a bit better.

I think last year I wore a lot of dresses, patterned tights and ankle boots but what I've seen online a lot of dresses are shirt dresses or oversized which telly doesn't suit me.

Oh I love tweeds & reds & pussy bow blouses! Sounds gorgeous.

Shit, sounds exactly like how I dressed circa 1981.

I was a tragic goth in the 80's so I am ready for tweed & pussy bows now!!

But, have you kept everything tinky? It's fun starting again with modern designers and fresh takes on traditional ideas.

Does anybody have any links to any nice items?

I think I need

Jeans, dark blue and maybe a coloured pair?
Some other sort of trousers? Chinos don't really suit my shape but I don't want to wear jeans or leggings all the time.

Any ideas where to get some everyday t-shirts that are not see through or lose their shape after a few washes.

I am considering flares, although they were supposed to be big for this spring and summer and I have only seen one person wearing them in the flesh (v young, trendy type in London. And they looked shit), so I have yet to be convinced.

Ha ha no I haven't kept anything but I am literally twice the size I was back then!

Afink - I bought some flares at the beginning of the summer but they are hanging in the wardrobe unworn. I tried them but felt like I was wearing fancy dress.

I think the leap from skinnys to flares is too much for me Smile

I really thought I'd be back in flares by now. I know I look way better in them but I just can't be arsed trying to figure out the shoes all over again, especially when it rains. (I don't wear heels). Plus I've got used to the tree-trunks-for-legs effect of skinnies so even my own reflection doesn't scare me any more.

I need a wardrobe overhaul this winter. I think flares can look good but the world seems to love skinnies. I can't get away with skinnies at all. Pear shape with big legs. Skinnies aren't good. Need an alternative!

Thick burgundy tights, decent black biker boots, black shift dress, or a tweed skirt with a black tucked in top and loafers, black opaques- 3/4 sleeve above-knee jumper dresses, fitted ones with a chunky heel

Ooh, burgundies and reds sound lovely. I like flares for summer but they're not great in wet weather! If you don't want flares but are fed up with skinnies, what about straight leg jeans?

I find that I tend to go from blue jeans in summer to grey and black in autumn. Burgundy sounds a possibility, though.

I have a tweed green jacket that I will be resurrecting this autumn. Also, biker jacke

I have a pair of Next jeans (haven't worn them yet , too warm) but I haven't worn jeans for over a year so I'm Grin waiting .Bootcut no flares for me.

Cord jeggings/leggings (M&S)

Paisley (I love paisley) in jewel tones.

I'm sure tartan will make an appearance because it always does.

I'm going to search out some Uniqlo merino wool jumpers

Uniqlo jacket in black

No idea what's allegedly 'in'. I plan to be wearing:

Black skinny jeans with black turtle neck jumpers and ankle boots

Denim skirts and ankle or knee high boots

Lots of grey!

Am also having a bit of a shirt phase lately, and want a gingham or tartan one, though haven't found exactly what I want yet

And I want a bright pink jumper, though again haven't founf that yet

I really want burgundy jeans. Anyone know where I might lay my hands on some?

I posted a similar thread last night but only got one reply. I have no idea what style to go for this autumn. I really need a bit of a revamp too as also on Mat leave and most of my winter stuff is work stuff.

I can't wait to dig out my over-the-knee boots - I bought them at the end of last winter so didn't get a lot of wear out of them.

Purchase-wise, I'm tempted by those blanket capes. I nearly bought one last winter but resisted, and they seem to be back again.

Flares - pah. I haven't seen anyone wearing them yet. I'm still on the fence.
