So what are the trends for the mumsnet scarf this year?

Any contenders so far. It's practically winter in Scotland it was never summer to be honest so I am mouring my lack of summer by looking at autumn winter clothes.

Has anyone bought any nice scarves recently?

I want to buy a Hermes or similar silk square this autumn, 90x90, but I don't really know where to look except Liberty. Anyone? I'm near London.

Oh fgs - it didn't take long for somebody to run out the old, 'They're over' line. How bloody ridiculous. If it is cold, you wear a scarf. I have a skinny and bony collar bone, anaemia and low blood pressure - I'm often cold, and guess what? If I'm cold, I put a scarf on.

I neither know nor care what the trends are, but I have a gorgeous grey cashmere one that I bought in the sales earlier this year. I want a bright pink one and also a red one. I already have lots of thinner ones for Autumn.

Scarves will never be over in my house. I love a large fine wool/silk pashmina type scarf. I'm looking for a pale gold one this year.

Yes - the Mumsnet scarf is one of those long, insubstantial accessories that some people are able to tie in an attractively casual fashion. Some others among us, no matter how we YouTube, always end up with pointless lengths of floaty fabric sticking to our sleeves, trailing behind us from the neck, half-strangling us and getting in other people's drinks.

I really don't care if scarves are over. I'm freezing almost all the time so I NEED my scarf. I don't care if I'm a fashion leper. It's either that or a wolf fleece so gimme the scarves.

I like the sound of a grey cashmere scarf, I could get on board with one of those. I spent a large period of last winter bemused at people's love for the Acne Canada scarf and now I would absolutely love one.

But I am definitely planning to chuck out my 30 or so patterned long thin wide ones.

Teresa you will never be so cold that you need a wolf fleece, it would be better to freeze, seriously. A nice scarf however keeps your neck just at the right temperature. All we need is to watch GBBO to see how Mary Berry is wearing hers, my mum is always phoning me to work out how to do a scarf like Mary and I have to work it out for her

There's a few people round these parts that wear the odd animal fleece. I live in the fashion mecca that is the west coast of scotland.

I'm kind of trying to kondo my wardrobe and make it capsule so i'm looking for the one that goes with everything. A grey cashmere night be the answer.

Hermes scarves are sold in the Hermes shop in Bond Street. Or on line via their official shop. More choice is store. Even more choice in their Paris store!

Scarves in general: any decent pashmina type is still wearable. Tweed is very in this winter plus sheepskin and pussy bow blouses. Wear the whole lot and you will be fashionable and warm.

Hermes is also sold in Selfridges and Harrods.

I will be wearing my old Hermes scarves, Mulberry scarves (from the outlets) and my latest scarf which is grey with a metal chain going all around the edge. I don't remember the brand, but it wasn't very expensive at all.
