Hi, I saw your other thread and never got round to responding, but thought I would respond to this. My skin sounds very much like yours and interestingly I used this moisturiser for years and years and loved it. However, I was finally diagnosed with rosacea about 18 months ago and tried Metrogel - didn't help much and then earlier this year had a bit of a lightbulb moment and realised that this moisturiser was actually causing my skin to react. I ditched it along with the Liz Earle cleanser and through lots of trial and errror - Clarins/Clinique/LRP/Avene/Simple etc. have found Boots Simply Sensitive cleanser and moisturiser (not the one with SPF) really good.

The redness has massively reduced and finally after 18 months no spots on my chin. I do still occasionally breakout, particularly if I've eaten too much sugar, but my skin is soo much better.

I think (though not certain), that SPF really irritates my skin and makes my eyes sore and I'm currently looking at bismuth oxychloride (?) which seems to be in most makeup, as there is still something irritating my eyes.

I thought I might give the Allergenics a try that DameDiazapam recommends - I have tried many of her recommendations - I think we have very similar skin.

Hi thanks for your response. So annoying isn't it! Drives me mad!
I have also tried all those ranges u listed aswell as lots more and also salon brands!
I saw Dame rec E45 wash but can't use anything paraffin based, might check out the allergenics cream though.
I also cannot tolerate spf theyake my eyes so sore and also bismuth oxychloride! I actually started a thread a while ago about make up that doesn't contain it lol!
Am wary of trying the boots simply sensitive though as it has mineral oil high up the list and usually my skin breaks out with it :( arrrrrrrrgh so stressful

Yes it definitely caused my skin/eyes to react. Again with the LE I had been using it for years and years and loved it. Its only in the last say 2 years that everything seems to upset my skin. I don't know what age you are, but I put it down to being a hormonal wreck having turned 50!

Also I remember watching Sali Hughes talking to Caroline Hirons a while ago. They were referring to Paulas Choice and saying how she is very against certain products for causing reactions. Sali was saying how it wasn't as simple as that and it made a difference on what other ingredients were used and how much or how little and different grades, especially mineral oil.

With the Boots stuff I was happy to purchase them as they were so cheap. I object to spending £15 on LRP and having Boots staff being arsey with me about returning it.

Unfortunately, it all comes down to trial and error, which can be expensive, but everyone has such different skin.

I am nearly 34 but still a hormonal wreck ha ha.
I bought the Olay yesterday as was on offer in boots so will see how it goes I guess, am hoping someone else on here comes and tells me it's brilliant lol!
Liz Earle made my skin really congested and more sensitive, I think because of the fragrance and essential oils etc (my skin doesn't seem to like natural ingredients)
I used to like no7 products years ago but now they all contain fragrance which pisses me off grrrrrr WHY?!

I use Olay Total Effects (not the fragrance free one) and have done for years. I absolutely love it. It really suits my skin but I have quite easy going skin that doesn't react to much really.

Oh dear - had a feeling it wouldn't end well due to the SPF. Never mind - onto the next one.

There isn't any spf in this one, it's not the total effects sensitive +spf 15 it's just the basic fragrance free one no spf so don't know what's causing the rash this time :(
