No I don't think so, actually. Bra sizes are generally crap and I don't think most women wear the right size, never mind teenagers.

I have just forced my dd to go and get measured correctly. I think they just buy the same size and forget that their boobs have grown since they were 12!

I went to the wonderbra shop at the outlet centre yesterday and asked for a 32DD. I was told they don't go that small for big cup sizes and she looked at my boobs with a head tilt to question their size. It's almost impossible to get a bra that fits I feel bad for teens just starting out. Teen me would have been a lot smaller than a 32 which is hard enough to get hold of.

I used to work for a ladies retailer. A fair number of our customers wouldn't wear a bra that fitted correctly as "nobody can see me boobs" if the fit was perfect. Some people see quadboob as a good look.

Some teens will not accept that the bra they have on is wrong.
They have had their first measurement in m&s when parent took them and continue to shop.

Then back straps, being conscious about size and schlebs giving wrong sizes, and the idea of the perfect size. So there's a total denial about anything over a 34.

My dd's are doing interventions. Slowly. Their mates camp out here and we chat about alsorts and bras have come up.

I agree with Holger. A lot of the shops that teenagers and young people like have a horrendous selection of sizes. Topshop, H&M and Primark I'm looking at you.

Wonderbra definitely used to do 32DD

Never mind the fact that M&S, Debenhams, etc aren't any better on measuring and sizing accurately.

Everyone should have a Mumsnet bra intervention once a year as a matter of course Smile

but i am sure its mistaking a too small bra for giving them cleavage. In the end it looks just squished

Oh come on, I remember being a teenage girl, there's no way in hell you'd have got me to go for a bra fitting. Take my top off in front of a stranger? No chance!

As a result I did wear ill-fitting bras until I was about 18 (and even then they weren't great!).

Vest tops.
Right vest tops.
Wear them over bra for
Measuring. It what my dd's used to do..
No wasn't as accurate but a lot better than having 20 million boobs in all directions.

There are an awful lot of adult women doing it too, to be fair. Some really do think the 'quad boob' thing is giving them good cleavage Confused , I know a 30 year old woman who has been doing it for years, complete with the low cut top to show it off!

To be fair though, many women don't know their true size and have become accustomed to either 'quad boob' or end up with their breasts down round their navels -either due to squishing, too large a size or from years of no support!

I'm 27 and only learnt my correct size last year. I spent the rest of my life with either gaping cups or nipples poking out. I had been measured at m&s and wore the 'right' size but only now I know my real right size!

The rest of my life meaning up until that point. Obviously not future tense!

God it's hideous. I see it all the time. 4 boobs. Boing boing. is it because whatever bras they like are only made in daft sizes. Or they buy from Primark or H&M where, apparently no one over a DD exists, neither does anyone under a 34 back.

I remember a story about Katie price refusing to wear her correct size for an ultimo photo shoot as she wanted a wee tiny bra to spill out of. I think she might have for the sack over it

a woman i know has rather large boobs and wears terrible bras. she has one which has quite a constricting lace band at the top (i know because she wears it under see through tops) so instead of 4 boobs she has 6. i really want to stage am intervention but i don't think it would go down well.

I thought that look was chosen intentionally.

I wear a minimiser. Sad

Back when I was at uni, we had our own version of the MN intervention, it was just keep going down back sizes and up cup sizes as far as possible. So I went from 34B via 32C to 30D. That simple guidance would help most teens - everyone wants to be skinny with big boobs so it's quite appealing.
