I don't iron. DH sends his shirts out, everything else just doesn't get done.

I tend to buy jersey, denim, polyester fabrics and am a bit scared of silk, viscose and even woven cotton.

I bought a Boden Breton and it effing looks creased unless I iron it, which isn't happening! Is that reason to return it? grin

[[www.lakeland.co.uk/8829/12-Hook-ups you need these lakeland gadgets. Hanger hooks for washing line. Dry hangable stuff on the hanger.

I fold from the tumble drier or hang clothes on hangers on the washing line.

Another non ironer here. I seriously don't see the need. Fold them up or hang them up and stick them in the airing cupboard.

HelenF35 Fri 31-Jul-15 19:34:46

I don't iron either. If it looks like it needs ironed I won't buy it smile

I have discovered that if I put something a bit creased on then blast it all over quickly with a hairdryer it does a pretty good job.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem Fri 31-Jul-15 19:47:46

Yep, I don't iron and I don't care! <slattern> grin

I don't iron and have never had any comments about looking creased. Don't hink dh does shirts as we don't have one to my knowledge. We had a friend round a while ago who needed one and I had to borrow one from elderly ndn who was horrified shock

Funnily enough ds (2) got one for his birthday this week and adores it. Perhaps we could get him a real one and get him doing it!

Who irons?
Dh has his sent out because I made it clear from day 1.
Anyone old enough to want things ironed can iron them.

I don't iron either. Before having children I would have stood and ironed for maybe a couple of hours at the weekend. I just found it completely thankless though. I would iron DH's shirts, he would wear them once and then throw them out to be washed and then the cycle of ironing would have to start all over again.

Since having children there is just so much washing to be done that I just don't have time to stand and iron. Kid's clothes get washed and folded and put away. Anything that can do without being ironed doesn't get ironed. I have just started within the last few weeks sending my ironing out to be done. I get it picked up and returned the next day ironed and a much faster turnaround than I ever had so everyone is happy. DH gets all his shirts and jeans ironed and I have one less job to do.

I don't iron either. I wear lots of jersey materials and OH doesn't wear suits.

Ds will be wearing shirts to school from September so it looks like my non ironing days are over.

FishWithABicycle Fri 31-Jul-15 20:03:53

I never iron!
My child does not know what an iron is and has never seen one in action.
Eventually they will be displayed in museums of technology and school children will be quizzed as to what they are and no one will know.
There will be funny Facebook meme images about them like the ones we see of magnetic audio cassette tapes today.
Then there will be peace and harmony.

Pegs work as well as those lake land thingies. Just peg the hook onto the line.

ShipShapeAhoy Fri 31-Jul-15 20:09:14

I don't iron, nor does dp. We didn't own an iron until dp bought one recently as he had to wear a suit to an anniversary party we were attending.

Nobody has ever commented on our clothes being creased. I don't think that's out of politeness, I think most creases just fall out once you get dressed.

tea4two4three Fri 31-Jul-15 20:09:48

It's why Lycra was invented.

Ironing is a total waste of life, and don't get me started on people who iron for their OH as they can't/won't.

Go all the non-ironers!!!!

burnishedsilver Fri 31-Jul-15 20:18:32

I'm so surprised. I though s and b would be an unlikely place to find people who would rather wear polyester than iron.

I'm not a big ironer (I fold straight out of the dryer) but I draw the line at wearing polyester.

TheFormidableMrsC Fri 31-Jul-15 20:20:58

I iron as I go. I literally cannot stand by an ironing board for hours doing it. It's hateful. So, I iron whatever we need for the next day the night before, takes about 10 minutes. That's as much as I can cope with. STBXH hated me not ironing but never bloody volunteered to do it himself either..

lurkingaround Fri 31-Jul-15 20:23:13

I don't mind ironing at all. Mindless and distracting. (Emptying the dishwasher? Bloody hate it)

Do you all not even <horror> iron sheets??? Oh my sainted aunt.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Fri 31-Jul-15 23:28:38

No, my Dh bought a Miele drier when I was in hospital having ds as it had a 'crease free' option. Bung a few items in and they come out crease free a few minutes later. I knew then he was my true soul mategrin

Mbear Fri 31-Jul-15 23:56:49

We lost our iron for a few years, then it got found and now it's gone again - mil bought it is at the same time she got herself one. She has gone through at least 2 in that time frame. Seriously have no idea where it is shockgrin

BigChocFrenzy Sat 01-Aug-15 00:03:12

I ironed a blouse at Uni, but I browned it at the edges (got confused with baking) so I haven't ironed since.
That was 1975 smile < Have I won the Mumsnet iron-free record ? hmm >

MsDragons Sat 01-Aug-15 00:09:29

I have ironed 3 things in the 6 years we have lived in this house. Dp has ironed 4 things in the same time. My mum is HORRIFIED. We do need to keep an iron around though because how else would we melt Hama beads?

Gumps Sat 01-Aug-15 00:09:38

Chanie44 get yourself to m&s for their ultimate non iron shirts. 2 ds wear them to school and I've never ironed them. Wash and hang on hangers. I bought mine in June for September for fear of them selling out.
