Hair. Grow or cut?

I'm early 40's and have very thick, curly hair - think Annie, but less red.

I've been growing it on and off for 20 years in the hope of looking like a pre Raphaelite rock chick beauty.

The reality is I just have my hair tied back all the time. Even worse - IN A SCRUNCHIE.

Should I just grow up and get a nice bob? Or even go shorter?!

If your hair (which sounds amazing BTW) is thick and curly, you run the risk of looking a bit "Crystal Tipps and Alistair" (Google, but if you're 40s you might remember )

Short or bob would be really hard work and you might end up regretting it (though I have lopped off my shoulder length bob to a short crop a couple of years ago. Love it but it grows wavy )

Why not invest in other hair accessories and leave the scrunchies be?

Your hair sounds amazing. How long is it now? I think, without seeing it on you, that I'd want hair like that to be long.

I'm nearly at bra strap length - which historically is when I get fed up, cut it off and then spend years growing it out. I just need to push through this don't I and burn the bloody scrunchie.

Really I should be in an 80's hair metal band.

Why couldn't I have had lovely straight hair???

Go to a curl specialist hair dresser and get it layered so the curls sit in ringlets. And don't touch it! Bra strap length is long enough to look beautiful and romantic - but it needs to taper slightly.
