Perhaps you just haven't found your particular style yet? I love the mayaris. I like how the Madrids look but I don't find them quite as comfy.

Are we the only two people in the world who find Birkenstocks uncomfortable?grin

motherinferior Thu 30-Jul-15 20:12:22

It's the bit under my feet. I have very small flat feet.

TheoriginalLEM Thu 30-Jul-15 20:14:17

I love them. They are the most comfy shoes ive ever worn <helpful>

fleamadonna Thu 30-Jul-15 20:14:51

I have flat feet so the arch support was a little uncomfortable at first.

got used to it though.

BestIsWest Thu 30-Jul-15 20:17:13

No you're not. They are too rounded at the toe for my long 3rd toe.

TitsForBrains Thu 30-Jul-15 20:19:00

I find them uncomfortable too! I've tried a couple of times and they rub the front of my toes sad

daisydalrymple Thu 30-Jul-15 20:19:59

I think they look too clumpy and masculine on my feet, as well as the discomfort.

ChippyMinton Thu 30-Jul-15 20:20:18

No. I want to wear them but my toes overhang the edges. So uncomfortable.

Zeitgeistic Thu 30-Jul-15 20:21:41

They are the devil's footwear if you have plantar fasciitis. Far, far too hard on the heel to be comfortable. They are worse than going barefoot for me.

NormHonal Thu 30-Jul-15 20:22:01

I find my Madrids very comfy indeed.

I wore my Arizonas once and they shredded my feet.

<sits on fence>

Follyfoot Thu 30-Jul-15 20:22:15

No, I find them really uncomfortable too.

meglet Thu 30-Jul-15 20:24:10

I only wear mine for short, slower walks. or if I'm driving to the supermarket. I couldn't wear them for a long walk.

mrsdavidbowie Thu 30-Jul-15 20:25:37

Hated Madrid's. The strap rubbed my prominent tendons.

Polarmouse Thu 30-Jul-15 20:29:01

I am the only person who has feet too wide for birkenstock! <fat feet emoticon> grin

JustCallMeDory Thu 30-Jul-15 20:37:19

Oh god, it's like they're beating your feet into submission and won't give way.

When I got used to the pain of them they were great and I wore them for the whole of last summer non-stop, but then when I had to go back to boots for autumn/winter I developed horrible plantar fasciitis. That was so painful, that I'm staying well away from them this year.

TopazRocks Thu 30-Jul-15 20:37:42

Am I the only person on MN who's never tried a Birkenstock? grin

JustCallMeDory Thu 30-Jul-15 20:38:30

Ah Zeitgeistic - not just me then!

dixiechick1975 Thu 30-Jul-15 20:39:04

gizeh all the way for me

Think they do some extra wide styles

minibmw2010 Thu 30-Jul-15 20:44:52

I never liked the look of them until I saw the ones with straps around the back of the foot so now I really want some grin

Callycatsy Thu 30-Jul-15 21:05:13

I hate them - uncomfortable AND hideous clumpy!

4kidsandaunicorn Thu 30-Jul-15 21:38:18

I also have plantar fasciitis and find them desperately uncomfortable, I even bought a pair once thinking that they would help, my foot was in agony and I'd only worn them for an evening.

BlueEyedWonder Thu 30-Jul-15 21:39:12

I tried the Madrid style a few years ago and they shredded my feet. I sold them on eBay.
This year I bought the 3 strap Floridas and they are super comfy.

BlueEyedWonder Thu 30-Jul-15 21:39:46

But still fugly I should add!!
