Anyone had an email about the re-launch of Duo, which will be called Ted&Muffy hmm

Hope it's all going to be better and not worse as I can't find boots to fit anywhere else.

AndIAlwaysComeBack Wed 29-Jul-15 17:53:19

Just seen this too Pink and feeling the same.
Anybody know more?

V weird - the Duo website requires an authenticisation and log in. How odd confused

DonkeyOaty Wed 29-Jul-15 17:54:48

Can anyone get on?

pinkfrocks Wed 29-Jul-15 17:56:02

Their email to me said as a VIP customer I'd get the details soon (enough!)

I know they always launch new boots in August so guess it's still in progress.

I wonder if they have sold out to someone and it's all changing?

ggirl Wed 29-Jul-15 18:19:24

How strange that it requires log in?!

LadyintheRadiator Wed 29-Jul-15 18:49:11

Ted and Muffy?! No sorry. Couldn't bring myself to say that out loud. I've had some amazing boots from Duo but really can't take that name seriously.

MsBojangles Wed 29-Jul-15 19:52:46

Christ, it sounds like a poncy pet shop. What on earth were they thinking?!

SlobDylan Wed 29-Jul-15 20:23:32

Found this in an article from 2006:
"Duo was born 30 years ago as a shop in Bath where husband and wife team Ted and Muffy Maltby sold Italian shoes."

And there appears to be a Ted and Muffy website that looks lik duo type stuff:

Good Lord woman- you've cracked it. That is them.
I hope that is not this season's offering as there's not much there.

Donteatthekidssweets Wed 29-Jul-15 21:43:14

Looks even more expensive too

SlobDylan Wed 29-Jul-15 21:47:11

grin It's all a bit odd. Just can't understand it from a marketing POV: Duo as a brand seemed to be 'open to everyone' (price aside) iyswim, but this is like it's trying to be Russell & Bromley for the over 80's or something. And apologies to Ted and Muffy, but I think the name may be a big mistake.

dexter73 Wed 29-Jul-15 21:47:44

Looks very expensive shock!!

DonkeyOaty Wed 29-Jul-15 22:09:13

Me no likey.

GrimDamnFanjo Wed 29-Jul-15 23:38:32

Hmm - I'll be back to Clarks wide fit...

PrimalLass Wed 29-Jul-15 23:48:08

What on earth? Silly name.

Mind you, would never buy from Duo anyway after my friend's boots fell apart and she had to pay £9 to send them back special delivery - even though there was a Duo shop within 30 seconds walk of our office.

mrsdavidbowie Wed 29-Jul-15 23:52:10

Sounds like a porn couole

Marylou2 Thu 30-Jul-15 07:11:21

Ted and Muffy? Oh. Dear. Do they not have friends?

pinkfrocks Thu 30-Jul-15 08:59:40

I can't fault the quality. Have had about 6 pairs over the years and sold 3 pairs on Ebay for good prices, simply because I went off the style. I have narrow calves so this will be bad news for me if they stop producing the range and hike the cost.

Jaeme Thu 30-Jul-15 11:10:45

I get that there's inflation but the boots are nearly 3x the price they were when Duo became popular.

Just seems like they're becoming frumpier and greedier every year. There's a couple of 'ok' pairs but £275 for some flat boots is crazy.

pinkfrocks Thu 30-Jul-15 11:36:06

Maybe their previous business model wasn't working and they have decided to reduce the choice and increase the prices.

SuperFlyHigh Thu 30-Jul-15 11:52:35

price increases but they're in Euros...

seriously Uterque and Cos and &otherstories do nice boots or even Natura (Spain) for less...

these are on my lust-list

mirpuppet Thu 30-Jul-15 12:20:39

The name is hilarious!

I can just hear myself saying I got my boots at Ted and muffy's. No I will never be saying that.
