As I was musing about rediscovering my own 'style' post kids and post 35, it got me to thinking about style icons and who I might like to emulate a little as I find my way, a bit like I did as a are your style icons/muses/heros/heroines? Who do you like to channel, even just a little bit?

I love Helena bonham Carter. She dresses how she wants and she looks face because of it!

Waywarddaughter Mon 27-Jul-15 20:42:09

You're my kind of girl Remus!!

HBC is ace, she really pulls it off.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Mon 27-Jul-15 20:43:47

HBC is beautiful, but she often gets a bit too crazy cat lady for my liking (and I say that as somebody who can easily veer into that territory myself).

Men too coco, it's Bowie, Jarvis Cocker and Morrissey for me alongside Patti Smith, Bjork, Debbie Harry, P J Harvey.....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Mon 27-Jul-15 22:13:46

YY to Jarvis and the great Moz. smile

Floisme Mon 27-Jul-15 22:19:34

Ooh I forgot Patti Smith
And Siousie Sioux
And Leonard Cohen

I don't exactly try and copy any of them but what I admire is that they each have a distinctive look. I also like it that they're not afraid to look their age.

Twowrongsdontmakearight Mon 27-Jul-15 22:22:01

Audrey Hepburn always. Immaculate, charming and caring. Can't stand Kate Moss though. Truly don't get why she's lauded. DH calls her 'rough as a badger's ar*e!

Clemence Poesy (doesn't try to be 'sexy')

Kate Bush, Jean Shrimpton, Lauren Hutton, pretty much any woman who strikes me as a proper 'grown up' who isn't scared of looking like a woman and wears whatever the hell she feels like wearing.

mooth Mon 27-Jul-15 22:35:48

Oh, and David Bowie. Of course. And Brian Jones. Anita Pallenberg was quite cool, too.

Pupsiecola Mon 27-Jul-15 22:38:40

Kate Beckinsale always looks stunning I think. Well groomed but simply dressed and stylish. As does Sandra Bullock; cannot believe she is 51.

Becauseicannes Mon 27-Jul-15 22:44:58

SwedishEdith Mon 27-Jul-15 22:47:32
