A skirt so short that the wearer's pants were on show even when she stood up straight. And as for when she walked up the stairs...

Luminous yellow trousers. I understand the need for PPE on site but why in the office.
Horrible fleeces.
Work logo polo shirts (it is not compulsory to wear these, people do it through choice).
Half mast wrinkled trousers.
Weird pink shirt.
Colleague who wanders about with no shoes.

Inappropriate things I've seen teachers in my school wearing:

bodycon dresses
vest tops with bra straps showing
lacy tights
denim a-line skirts
flip flops

Coral leggings and a cropped vest top, no bra. On a very slim young lady - but still ...! Workplace was an office - not a gym or a nightclub.

OTOH I speak as one who wore tailored knee-length shorts to work several years ago and got a telling off from the boss ... in a workplace where people wore shorter skirts than that, or alternatively filthy ripped jeans [bitter]

Strapless maxi dress so, from over the top of her computer monitor, it appeared the wearer was naked.

Also, vest tops with bra straps on show. Yes, it's hot, but underwear shouldn't be on show in a professional and usually formal office...

There is a lady at my work (professional office environment) who has mahoosive boobs - as do I, I'm an H cup so not judging - who regularly comes braless to work. Braless!!

Some of the women in my office look like they've just wandered in off the beach. Flip flops, strappy vests and cargo skirts.

It isn't 's a super-smart office, but I think they could make just a little more effort to look professional.

I did work somewhere with a fantastic receptionist. She had to wear a uniform for her original post but got promoted into a general admin role where the dress code was 'business dress'.

Second day she came in wearing a short crop top, maxi skirt and flip flops.

She was politely sent home to change.

I'm not sure what she was thinking as she'd worked there for years so she knew what everyone else wore, everyone was fairly bemused.

In the same office a chap used to run into work. Sit at his desk in his sweaty running things for ages working before wandering off for a shower. Again, totally baffling. I assume a quiet word was had as he stopped doing it after a while.

It was a particularly entertaining department from a sartorial point of view as we also had a lady who took to wandering round the office in her fluffy bunny slippers. Again a word was had regarding the health and safety section of the dress code policy. The fluffy bunny slippers were discreetly worn under the desk only after that Grin

Mini dresses that are just ridiculously short. So impractical when you are a teacher or are at work. All these teachers do is pull their dress down constantly. Also really low cut tops, lace tops with a bra clearly visible.

Overly short skirts here too, put it away!

Skin tight sleeveless tops and string vests. And that's men!

Most outrageous thing I've seen a woman wear in an office environment is white see-thur vest with black bra underneath, denim hot pants and knee high gold gladiator sandals.

Why is it a depressing thread Jean? I dont find inappropriate clothes a depressing thing. I am just suprised at what some people think are appropriate.

Speedos and a rubber duck ring and socks with sandals.

Why depressing Jean? We have a dress code at work; some people don't abide by it.

Flip flops with hobbit feet, too tight trousers, polyester shirts (male)

Woollen suits with polyester tie neck blouses (female, summer, did not help the smell)

Not inappropriate discussion - I don't want to be distracted at work as a woman, neither does anybody else!

We worked in a very " suits" environment and one day our manager called a meeting and for some reason suggested we all dress as if we were going on holiday. One girl turned up in denim micro shorts over a bikini!!!!
The rest of us were in Hawaiian shirts or similar

I live in a small town and work with the towns biggest gossip. One day she was wearing a t-shirt which read "What happens backstage, stays backstage" made me chuckle all day, what made it funnier is that I live abroad so the wearer and most people I work with either didn't understand what it said or why it made me laugh. So I had to chuckle to myself until I could go home and tell DH.

I work in education so everyone dresses modestly and the children wear uniform.

Jean why necessarily depressing?

Dress codes aren't usually that hard to assess. Most offices aren't really the place to express one's personal sense of style in an extreme way.

It's generally better to get noticed for your excellent work than for what you are wearing.

The 3 people I mentioned above were all really good at their jobs but their clothing choices impacted others opinions of their expertise.

A white vest top ... With no bra and minuscule white male tennis player type shorts with camel toe in full view for all to see.

This was a senior and well respected colleague.

" Modern parent", lycra palazzo pants with a massive front bottom.
( actually bigger than her own fat arse)

A colleague spent a good chunk of today lying down in just his pants, while the rest of the team got on with work around him. This was entirely appropriate (although I did raise an eyebrow the first time he did it). Another colleague wasn't wearing a shirt for most of the day, and a third took his trousers off several times during the working day. Grin
