Are multiple ear piercings still 'in' for 30s?

Discussion with friends recently. A few of us tempted to get 2nd and 3rd ear piercings - we are in our 30s and feeling a bit more rebellious with our style. But does it look too try hard on average office-working straight laced Londoners? Are additional piercings still "in"?

I don't think they are tbh.

If you like them go for it, age is just a number and doesn't define what you 'should' look like.

That said, the whole multiple piercing thing seems to be less common now and possibly replaced by tunnel piercings.

I like them and am in my 30s.

My second, third and fourth holes have all sealed themselves back up though Sad

Go for it, what's the worst that could happen?

I think piercings transcend fashion - if you like them, get them. I mean, having multiple lobe piercings is hardly a big deal and not particularly noticeable compared with, say, facial piercings.

I have three in each lobe and two cartilage piercings btw. Added one set of lobe piercings and one cartilage piercing at 33, too Wink

Echoing pp's, if you want to then go for it. I just got my tragus pierced and have 3 lobe piercings in each ear. I'm in my 30s.

Thanks everyone! A good reminder that if I want to do I should do it. But not to do it in an attempt to be fashionable as that probably won't work! I think it's about getting older and wanting to experiment and take more risks with my style.

Go for it if you want it, but it's not IMO fashionable right now (not unfashionable either though).

I have done a load of interviewing and wouldn't personally bother about piercings, but I am not always the reality - if you are applying for corporate client facing roles I would go for two rather than three. If three, keep really small studs for any interviews. If your hair covers then this probably doesn't matter.

It's definitely not fashionable and I think it's a bit odd to do it now, most people in their 30s with multiple ear holes did it as teenagers! But if you like the look, no reason not to.

Go for it! My dad does this and tattooing for a living he has clients in their 60s. Look fab!

I think piercings are more about personal style than changing fashions :)

I've got two cartlidge piercings and a forward helix plus standard lobe piercing, I'm in my 30's and quite likely to get more at some stage

Stylist just did a whole gallery on ear piercings so I wouldn't say it's 'out', but then I like a lot of these looks.

I think it depends hugely on where you work and how important your career is to you. Many organisations just won't countenance multiple piercings or tattoos in customer facing roles. They won't tell you that obviously, they just discount you at interview no matter how well qualified you are.

I had 3 in each lobe and one further up my left ear. Got them done 20 yrs ago. I think most apart from the bottom hole in each ear have closed up. I wouldn't get them done now because I like wearing one pair of pretty earrings that stand out. If you want to do it go for it though. Doesn't matter if it's "in" or not. As long as you like it.

I have two in one lobe and three in the other and I work in an old-fashioned organisation. Also I am 39 eek. It's uncommon enough among my friends to make me think it is probably unfashionable (I care not, I love it).

In my left ear I have one lobe piercing, a piercing half way up my ear and a tragus piercing. In my right ear I have 3 lobe piercings and a rook piercing.
I also have a nose piercing, nipple piercing and tummy button percing.
I've been getting them done since my teens. I don't think they go in and out of fashion as such but I have changed the type of jewellery I wear over the years. At the moment I think small and very fine jewellery looks more fashionable.

I honestly wouldn't want to work somewhere so stuffy and old fashioned that they saw a few earrings as an issue!

Go for it, if you are unlucky enough to work somewhere that frowns upon it then just pop flesh coloured flat covers in.

My DP is an army officer so if we have to go anywhere too stuffy I just wear covers and one set of pearl studs.

Other than that I favour small studs linked with chains or I just wear all my favourites at once Grin I have five pairs of lobe, tragus and a few cartilage.

If you want to why not? If you think after the effect you don't like it just takem them out

I've four in one lobe, three in the other and considering a fifth high up the lope and im pushing 40 (I wanted to do it in my teens but was too scared of the pain!!)

I have three piercings in one ear, just one on the other. I hardly ever wear jewellery in any of them now, but after seeing that Stylist gallery I might start! it seems small discreet gold or diamonds are more in now, in the 90s I would have worn more silver.
I'm in my 40s and work in a school, but I think a lot of work places (but obviously not all) are much more relaxed about it than they used to be. same with tattoos.

I have four in my right and two in my left. Was fun for a bit but I'm not that big a fan of the look now, I mean rows of earrings going up your ear. I don't mind the holes at all tho. I always wear a stud in my cartilage because I don't want that one to close up, like that one still.
I'm 21.

If you like it then who cares whether it's in or not, enjoy it :)
