SUN DRESS

Postchildrenpregranny · 10/07/2015 10:07

Does anyone know where I can buy a 'proper' sundress, other than the supermarkets ?
I mean a fairly bare front and back , slightly fitted on bust with broad enough straps to wear a bra . Not too tight skirt and not too short Preferably cotton.
Tried an acceptable one on in Pepperberry but it was above my (ancient) knees And I 'm only 5ft 3"
Have booked a holiday in sun (rare for us) in October and am OK for tops, cuts offs, but sometimes a dress is cooler

5ft1 here and this is great. I was really surprised. Needs halter neck/multiway/strapless bra or go braless

Thanks FranBrodie - love the Mantaray ones Just going to see how far down my legs 36.5 ins comes (we dont have a local Debenhams I've scoured John Lewis and Rackhams and House of Fraser . Is this their own make?)

Dress has come and is nice-grey with yellowy orange daisies . Very fine cotton (good in heat) but not quite see through . It does cover my knees (just)
I ordered a 16 (mostly a 14)and am glad I did as it's quite straight . (The shirring at the back means the bust is OK). Will have to move the buttons to shorten the straps as I am very short from shoulder to waist but that's easier than taking in shoulder seams which I often have to do . Now if I can lose the 8lbs extra weight I am carrying (before Oct 9th) it will look even better.
It's more elegant than a lot of sun dresses so I think I could even wear for dinner. The pink one is mysteriously available again . Am very tempted

Allium B are closing down. I just bought the turquoise Eliza, not bad for £36! Thanks for the comments on fabric and fit :)

Has it gone back up in price Blair or did you have a code? I can't hide wide bra straps under many dresses and this looks perfect.I liked them last year and obviously can't delay for another year. What a shame they are closing down.

Can anyone compare Allium B sizing to Boden or White Stuff? I'm really in between sizes at the moment and can't decide but really like one of the dresses they have.

As I said above I bought the16 but I think that's the style (don't have Boden or White stuff) I went by my hip measurement
The code I used was DRESSES 20 if anyone wants to try it
Yes. My dress was £36 too . Shame they are closing

The code i used was EXTRA20 I think ygritte, I think there has been a few.
The sizing guide on the site seems quite good stripytees, fwiw I usually wear a 10 and have gone for a 12.
