Oh bollocks I seem to have green hair...

Not even a nice shade, rather a khaki tint.

I am old enough to know better.

Help!

A few weeks ago I stupidly gave in.. having been growing out my colour for 7 months to see how grey I was, I decided to colour it again.. and asked for mid brown with a few tiny subtle highlights. What I got was mid brown with stripey ones :/ After the sunny weather they were even more glaring so I decided to tone them down with a simple 8 wash Clairol 'nice n' easy'. I have used it lots over the years as not permanent and the conditioner is ace.

Except I couldn't get 'golden brown' and had to buy mid brown. Which has now left me with brown hair with distinctly khaki striped highlights.

And I have the event of my year to go to next week.. my DD1's graduation from medical school.

As I said.. I am an idiot! I have no chance of getting to a hairdresser.. none. I guess it will fade quickly but is there anything I can do at home to reduce the green tint? I was planning to cut my (chin length graduated bob) hair short at the start of the school holidays anyway to start going grey again. But I need to be less green in the meantime!

Any advice appreciated...

I would buy some silver shampoo sharpish and put it on, cover with clingfilm and leave overnight.

wash x 5 before you do this.

beach shampoo in boots is quite good - just needs to be bright purple to counteract.

Tomato ketchup. Honestly !

Or use a reddish brown tint over the top. The red will balance out the green. You could try the old washing hair with tomato ketchup trick too.

you dont need silver shampoo or anything else purple.
purple counteracts yellow hair, not green.

you need red to neutralise,
A red shade or a red brown should work, do a strand test first to make sure

That's weird - all you have to do is google it and you'll find loads of sites that recommend purple shampoo. I've used it constantly to rid any green or red from my ash blonde hair...

I had the same horrible highlights and covered it with nice n easy mid brown. It came out fine. I used the 24 wash version not the 8 wash. If I were you I'd put another nice n easy over the top.

What about putting a darker semi over the whole lot?

I had a problem with hair colour, posted here and got advice about how to tone it down but presumably you dont want that as it would just be paler khaki?

I just want boring brown standard hair :)
I may try the ketchup tomorrow...though I can't stand the stuff;

"It's not easy, being green..."

God I wish I'd stuck with my grey...!

find a semi with a warm brown in it.
ketchup will help for now but is a bloody faff.

Ok ..I got hold of an 8 wash golden brown and it's now a bit better.. not perfect, but not obviously green Grin

I'm going to try and hold off the green with the 8 wash stuff and no more permanent anything.. pixie cut it and go grey (I'm about 30% grey) again. I just got bored of growing it out, but I think short will make it easier to do so.
I actually liked the grey..I hoping for a hippy, choppy funky look! But with it longer I was sporting the '3 inches of roots knackered old witch look'!
