Stupid twatting ineffective salt spray grrr

I have a couple of different salt sprays.

After washing my hair I spritz the product liberally into damp hair and allow to dry naturally. It looks nice and wavy when damp but as soon as my hair dries the product disappears and I'm left with frizzy not at all beachy helmet hair Confused Angry.

When my hair was long it worked fine. I salt sprayed then twisted hair into bun to dry and then shook it out. I hate my hair length now (jaw length) and can't bloody wait for it to grow back.

Any tips on salt/surf spray?

My hairdresser 'whips' it into my hair (his term) while blow drying - so blasts my hair upwards and sprays into it at the same time. Seems to do the trick but I'm less adept at doing it by myself.

I think you have to blow dry it. It did nothing on my long hair but now it's shoulder length I spray it on my damp hair, blow dry for a minute or two then twist it up and let it air dry for however long I have. It definitely lifts the roots and gives a tousled look to my dead straight hair. I use the John Freida Beach Blonde one.
