wedding - white dress or something beautiful but reusable

So been talking about weddings with DP and its on the cards but no date set so this is not an urgent query - more a request for opinions to help me decide what I want and take it from there...
We're thinking a very small registry office do, only a handful of guests. I like a nice frock so I will get something special for the event. It won't be traditional, probably knee length, probably teamed with some kind of smart jacket and high heels.
Discussion turned to - will I be in white (or cream or ivory) and it have the feel of a wedding? So probably not a dress I could rewear to another event (weddings are kind of the only formal events I go to, so couldn't wear white)
But then if I get something that can be used again then will I feel sufficiently bridal on the day. But then if its a small do - does it really matter that I feel 'bridal'.
So I guess my question is - would you or did you pick a white dress or not? Was it important to have that small element of tradition (white) when nothing else is going to be traditional - small do, already live together, have kids, don't like a big fuss...
Thanks

I wore a peach skirt and jacket with a creamy white lacy collared blouse when I got married, was 1990 though Smile

Buy a white/ivory silk dress from eBay wear it and then either dye it or sell it really quickly.
Wedding dresses date really quickly.

If you're worried about spending too much on a dress you'll only wear once, you could buy a second hand or "pre loved" dress? Or look at the high street (Monsoon do bridal dresses for example) which would be much cheaper than a traditional wedding dress.

If you want to look "bridal" the accessories will help - if you have a bouquet for example you will look like a bride whatever the colour of your dress!

What style dress do you want? If you want a knee or tea length dress have you considered 1950s style? eg Vivien of Holloway.

I say go for the white dress - you're only doing it once, don't hold back! You could always dye it after, or have it dyed.

It sounds like you want the white dress! Don't worry about wearing it again. But yes to a 50s length one, maybe bright heels you can wear again. You're allowed to wear the white dress even if you haven't done everything the traditional way Smile

anthony Preloved have Candy Anthony dresses
