Permanent Straightening

I would like to get my hair permanently straightened. It's long, thick and wavy/frizzy. It gets greasy very easily but also looks quite dry at the moment. It's tied up everyday because I can't bear to blow dry and straighten it daily.

My hairdresser offers x-tenso and kerastraightening but doesn't give any prices!

Does anyone have any experience of how much it costs, how long it lasts and how it affects the condition of your hair? Or any recommendations?

Yes. Had the Brazilian Blowdry straightening done and loved it. Made my naturally 'wavy with a tendency to go fluffy' hair perfectly smooth and glossy. It improved the condition and it didn't frizz or go fluffy even on hot and humid days.

It cost me roughly £150 and lasted 3-4 months. Worth every penny though as my shoulder length hair looked like it had been professionally blow dried and straightened every single day, but only actually took 2-3 minutes to blast dry with hair dryer.

That sounds amazing! Would it work on shorter hair? I'm growing out a bob and my unruly hair just looks a mess.

Sounds brilliant! Is that a particular brand name I should look out for, or is that just the name of the technique?

I have very curly/frizzy hair, below shoulder length. I've had three x-tensos; two done properly which lasted a year, one done by a famous UK name which lasted 3 months.

now on wellastrate and coming up to my third; also lasts a year. Takes five hours and costs £140-odd - I'm not in London!

it's brilliant. Things to note:

• if you have coloured hair you can't have the intense version so may not last as long.
  
• treatment sequence is apply, comb straight, sit still, rinse, dry, straighten, wash, neutralise, rinse, dry, straighten. The incompetent hairdresser missed the middle straighten and it failed.
  
• you can't wash it for a few days afterwards. You should then try not to wash more than twice a week.
  

when it is first done I don't need straighteners at all. Even now it only takes a few minutes and lasts to the next wash. No trouble with rain/humidity.

I had yuko for many years, the Japanese straightening method. I Did a LOT of research before hand since some of these things can do such terrible damage to your hair. After many months I finally settled on Oliver in the Harrods salon, it used to be around £650 for medium length hair and that would last for at least a year for me but depends on how fast your hair grows as the straightened hair never becomes curly again. I can highly recommend the yuko straightening and can definitely recommend Oliver atHarrods(I have his number, i can PM you if you're interested) but would really advise taking care and doing your research, the last thing you want is all your hair breaking off, particularly if you've coloured it recently!

Oliver Damibar is his name and it seems prices have come down since I last had mine done a few years ago, now £395 for long hair. I'm not advertising just a very happy customer, makes me want to go and get it straightened again :-)

i have frizzy/wavy hair, so i use BB from amazon, very cheap £25, keep my hair smooth and straight for three days (After straightening it).

I have the Japanese permanent straightening in a local salon it is £250 the first time and then £200 for the roots every 9 months or so. It is life changing I've gone from having hair as thick and curly as an Afro to washing and leaving the house with lovely clean, dry, swishy hair in less than 15 minutes.
