I'm sure if you asked she'd reply? They've both replied to a lot of comments.

I think she may have got it from Dawn O'Porters pop up shop, i'm sure I saw a picture on Instagram a while ago.

I watched both videos in the last few days too. I've come away wanting to try some of the products mentioned, no surprise there!

God, I do love a red room, so warm and womb like.

No idea about the dress though, sorry.

TOO HARD

Not hard at all if you take the time to give it more than a cursory glance.

Loved it but can't get my head around all of those products. How does she get through them before they expire? I doubt she uses some of them for more than a week.

Seems so very wasteful but it is her job. The make up collection is just obscene! How many pink bloody lipglosses does a girl need?

I watched this today.
My mind is truly boggled.

How much cleanser does one woman need?
How dirty can you get?

her whole thing was very defensive - Old Cazzer H.

It became quite wearing

And just how many freebies do these women get?

I'm not sure I can trust their opinion.
Also, CH used to work for Chantecaille but didn't have a single of their products to recommend. Funny.

Must say I didn't watch the whole drive.
Got annoyed and switched off.

Was looking forward to the product video but it frankly was just a list of the contents of Cult Beauty and Space NK. Was hoping for 'this is excellent because of x,y and z' but really it was 100 name checks. And it was obvious the sheer quantities of freebies handed out.

I actually warmed to Caroline in these videos. I can see why a lot of people do like her no nonsense approach.
Her approach to skincare however isn't for me and I don't fully agree with it. I do also find it scary how cult like some of her followers have become. I do love skincare though so I can understand to a degree. Smile

It's true that as a skincare blogger all those products will have been sent to her for free, but I think unlike most bloggers and youtubers out there she has actually always been very honest about that? As has Sali.
I did feel however that Tata Harper was maybe pushed too much, and noticed that a lot of stuff looked pretty much unused or tried only a couple of times?
I think the worst video that Sali did was the one with Charlotte Tilbury. That was painful to watch as it was nothing more than an advert for Charlotte's own products.

I also think that keeping that amount of products opened and on the go is crazy. Think about how long it actually takes you to go through a cleanser, toner serum etc. A lot of those products she has will surely just go out of date. I do also wonder how she can really tell just how effective a product is if she chops and changes her skincare so much. I have always given skincare at least a couple of months to tell if it's working for me or not. Does she address this anywhere on her blog?

I see why they get the freebies and whatnot.

It's their job to promote/write about beauty potions.

But when someone uses dozens of cleansers and millions of serums I can't help but think What a waste.
It puts me off.

I'm careful about what I buy, as I would imagine most of us are and seeing this avalanche of stuff makes me uneasy.

I like Sali Hughes, but the videos she has done with non-beauty industry women have been far more interesting IMHO. I find it fascinating to see what products people actually use and how they use them (like the Caitlin Moran/Brix Smith Start videos) as opposed to just drawers full of products. The most painful one was with Aerin Lauder, like talking to a cardboard box. Loved the one with Mary Greenwell, amazing, gossipy, leader in her field, and felt like a real person.

That's what I always think Jasmine, how can they possibly try so many things in such quick succession and work out which ones are effective? Make-up yes, put it on, see how it looks, that's fine, but if you're trying skincare you really need to try one new product at a time and give it a couple of weeks if not longer otherwise you're just judging on texture, feel, how it sinks in etc.

Ottilia how is it a waste? - it's her job to try out lots of products and give her readers an honest review of it so we don't have to go out and buy it blind..

She has tub after tub of cleansers they should keep a herd of hippos clean for years.
How much cleanser does a woman need? One who lives in sanitary conditions and obv doesn't rear pigs for or dig trenches for a living
She doesn't tell much about the product as well, only that she likes it.
And unless you have exactly the type is skin she has, and no one apart from her does then how can you know it will work for you?
You are still buying blind, her opinion is just that, her opinion, you still have to try and see what works for you, because you aren't her

I agree with some of what she says but the endless walls of product, as they called it, turn my stomach.

Otilla " But when someone uses dozens of cleansers and millions of serums I can't help but think What a waste.

I can't face watching a video about this stuff but I'm curious, are they recommending that people use lots of products? Presume yes as that's how they make money? I hadn't heard of this lady till joining mumsnet.

She recommends two cleansers, toner, serums, moisturisers.
I might have missed a potion or two here.

Different ones for morning and evening.
Bonkers.

It's horses for courses isn't it though. I have more cleansers than jeans, I have more serums than shoes.
I trust CH more than the others because of the honesty. She refuses to review certain brands for ethical reasons and recommends just as many cheaper products. Yes, she likes more expensive stuff, maybe because it's better, but she's always quick to say 'but if you only want to spend a tenner this is just as good'
I have wondered about the time she (and others) use products for, but I think you know pretty quickly when you try a 'wow' product.
SH I don't mind, but she does always read a bit more like a Sunday supplement product placement.
Seeing shelves of cream doesn't make me uncomfortable, just envious!
