Can you dress teen dd for me ?!!!

Hello Smile

Dd1 has asked me if I can get her some new clothes for our summer holiday and for next weekend (she is - in her words - unable to dress herself!). We are going to Europe for a month, not on a package type thing and next weekend she is going to a party and a day out.

Ideally she would like;
-new bikini - BIG boobs so always a struggle

  • new dresses

-some new shorts/skirts
  • tops

-and things to wear in the evening when to too warm for a jumper but too cold for nothing
-general holiday wear

She is a size 14 (quite overweight) and about 5"5. In her words, she would like clothes to make her look slimmer and minimise her bust - we have had a problem with attention from older guys Sad

She wants quite fashionable clothes as she says she always feels frumpy around her friends (size 6, blondes)

She is almost 16.

Could I have some advice please and maybe a few links?

TIA X

also.. username does need to be updated but don't know how Grin not appropriate for summer !

River Island might suit.... DD is 16, size 12/14 and finds New Look sizes are small (dependent on style of course), the same for Forever 21 and Top Shop. River Island seem to be more of a woman's size than a teen size IYSWIM?

I've been to Bluewater a couple of times recently, there seems to loads of sales on.

We're going on holiday in a few weeks so I am on the same mission as you! and it don't come cheap!

Also Dorothy Perkins do nice cropped jeggings in bright colours at the mo. DD got some nice sandals in River Island that seem to go with lots of things too - I'll find a link....

I think find a starting point and remember what you've bought and mix and match some basic items and build up your summer wardrobe that way rather than buying random things that don't go with each other.

Thanks for replying. I agree with the ridiculous prices they're asking, I was shocked last time I went into the city centre. I will take a look at the mentioned shops, unfortunately won't be able to get to any before we go but I can look online Smile

Dd is standing behind me and says to add to the above post: nothing skimpy !! Haha if only dd2 would say that !

You need cup sized bikinis which are a bit of a holy grail.
I managed to get dd one from Next and Dorothy Perkins (online), side 32dd. Yesterday I noticed M&S had some in their sale.
Not sure about anywhere else, as she's size 8 otherwise.

I got some nice bikinis in Debenhams last year. I have 34E/F boobs but managed to get triangle bikinis that actually fitted! Along with some other nice bikinis with cups and they weren't that expensive.

Does she wear bras fitted as per the standard MN reccomendations? That can make a ridiculous difference to how one looks in clothes.

Bravissimo and John Lewis both do bikinis for larger cup sizes. They don't come cheap but are worth it for the support and coverage!

playsuit easy to wear, light to pack, no "what top to wear with these shorts" decisions!

Thanks ladies! She is always fitted and gets bras / previous bikinis from bravissimo so think they fit well (and probably as per MN recommendation?) I can't unfortunately get her a v expensive bikini along with all the clothes . She is a 32 G if that helps??

For beach basics, at a more affordable price, Matalan has some nice playsuits here

Does anyone know how bravissimo sizes compare to M&S? She has spotted a bikini she likes !

Debenhams for swimwear. My daughter is nearly 15 and loves New Look and Primark for clothes.

Maybe get one well fitted bikini and a couple of bright coloured kimono jackets that are in fashion at the moment?

My Dd is 15 and loves H&M for throwaway fashion.

Jack Wills for T shirts with a pair of denim shorts and Havanas look good in any teen regardless of size.

If she is large of bust the best thing you can buy for her is s fantastically well fitted bra. Will make all of her clothes look better in the blink of an eye.

Sorry didn't see bra thing already covered.

Look on eBay for bikinis, they often have good buys in larger sizes.

Boohoo have some really cheap clothes that would be just the thing for summer.

Their sizes are weird, so order various; eg skater skirts tend to be quite voluminous and dresses can be small. They also do a "plus size" range, sometimes higher necks, less revealing and sometimes have all the sizes covered.

missguided boohoo and the outlet on asos are usually quite reasonable. i would go for playsuits and maxi dresses if she feels comfy in them? maybe with some nice wedges and a nice kimono.

new look and asos do amazing bikinis, sports styles are quite in fashion so not as revealing more crop top style might feel more comfortable in something like that? probs easy enough to find a nice swimsuit too.

last time i was in primark they had a lot of shorts with like pom poms on the bottom that are really cute and might be nice with a plain vest top? sure new look boohoo etc will do similar.

Jack Wills is horrifically expensive. I very much doubt a teenager will wear clothes bought this year next year, which makes paying £19.00 for a T-shirt seem rather ridiculous.

Oh, and asos is good too, although their website is frustrating!b

If you join the premier service you pay a bit but get free next day delivery and returns. It's a good service.

The app is probably better than the website. Again sizes vary.

Have a look at Uniqlo. They do great jeans and quite a lot of nice tunic tops. I am 34H so if their larger sizes fit me, your daughter should be fine.

Here is their sale page. I like this sleeveless dress reduced to £14.90.
