Bra straps constantly slipping down grr!

Please tell me, is the entire fit wrong on me or the quality of bra poor?
It feels snug on the back and boobs fill the cups ok but within 10 mins the straps slide down on both sides.
It's a John Lewis own brand, cost nearly £30 and has only been hand washed a few times.

I think it is probably the style. Most bras now are balconettes, which have the straps set very wide. This isn't ideal if you have a narrow frame, and the manufacturers don't seem to adjust for this when they size down a bra band. This probably wouldn't happen with a full cup, but they seem impossible to find! I have this problem but it does vary from style to style. You need to find something where the straps are set further in. What size are you?

I used to have this problem when I wore a bra that was too big in the band. It doesn't help that I am narrow shouldered as well.

Are you definitely wearing the right size?

I think the size is right as I've looked at the various interventionist post here and measured myself. I'm wearing a 32D. Could prob fit into a C but sometimes spill over the cup a bit. I haven't tried full cups. My best bra right now is this DKNY number which gives a fair bit of cleavage for me. I'm quite flat at the top so this really does push up. It was a bit pricey to buy two though... but maybe it's worth it. This is the [http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-marilyn-push-up-bra/p1171487?colour=Nude JL one]] which slips down. Looks fab on the model though [hmmm]

Sorry, let me re-post this with links working!

I have that problem too! Where straps can be removed I cross them over at the back, but that doesn't look possible with the jl bra.

Measure yourself as per this guide

it also says on there that the straps do none of the work, it's all done by the band.

Just thought- you can buy bra clips on amazon that create a racer back. That might help.

This happens to me all the time too!! It's so irritating. I have been measured as a 28E/30DD but because those bras are harder to find (and usually more expensive), when I'm shopping in M&S and other dept stores, I sometimes choose a 32D as I've read that would be an 'alternative' to a 30DD - my 32D bras are the worst for strap slippage so I imagine the band size might be too big?

I had this when the band was too loose. What does your back measure?

Report
hugoagogo · 18/06/2015 20:56

That DKNY one does look very wide.

Right, I've just measured my back again and it's about a 30. But I have tried 30D before and it's been a bit tight. I am certainly not an E as my boobs are too small in the cup for that. The DKNY one doesn't slip, hugo, it's the JL one causing me problems. Other than that DKNY one I haven't got a single bra I like that looks good under t-shirts =, i.e. gives a bit of a lift and makes me look like I've still got boobs.

There is a dd before the E

If you try the 30 on back to front so the cups are at the back, what does that feel like band wise?

It's just that if the cups are too small they steal from the band - doing it the above way you can feel the band without any interference

Thank you furball I will have another look at the guide you kindly posted.

Coming up as 36 which would suggest 30E wouldn't it?

I don't have a 30 to try at home but will bear it in mind when I go shopping on Saturday. Thanks furball

Maybe they are just too loose!

I was once told that you should tighten your bra straps so that you can just pull them up the bottom of your ear lobes.

You're a 30 band. I fastened my bras at the front and twisted them round.

First few hours you feel like your in a corset.

it happens to me with some bras. narrow shouldered, 30 back, find fantasy bras good, sometimes wear 32 back

Yep, happens to me too. Recently bought new bras and the straps loosen over the course of the day. I adjust them numerous times throughout the day but to no avail. Drives me mad.

Hello. Please can some of you help? I measure 37 under my bust and 43 inches on my boobs. I have been out and tried triumph and m and s today and nothing feels quite right. I have tried 36GG, 38G, 38GG 36 and 38 H, 36 J and K. I have been on the better bra site but still find it all so confusing! I am currently wearing bras in sizes 40-42 DD and am a size 16-18.

Those measurements would make you somewhere around a 36E

Did you measure as per this guide

If anyone has a bravisimo near them the best advice is to go there

M & S, etc use the very wrong add 4 inch method which completely cocks it all up

for example if you measure say 36 round you are a 36, not a 40 Hmm

Furball · 19/06/2015 17:40

I am a size 16 and wear a 34
