Can you get a half decent handbag without spending hundreds?

I thought I'd found a lovely handbag from a charity shop, tag said real leather. But a few months on it's obviously not leather as the plastic is peeling off.
It's my birthday next month & I'm thinking of asking for contributions towards a handbag; however most handbags on these boards seem to cost hundreds if not thousands and there's no way I'll get anything close to that. Any recommendations for under £100?

You can get a decent bag without spending a fortune from tk maxx. They have a wide variety, some leather and some not leather. Some might be from last seasons collections though so it really depends what you are looking for. It is worth a look.

I love River Island bags for the designs and durability. I got a lovely one for under £40 that's still going back strong 3 years on

Agree re TK Maxx. Also M&S have leather bags for less than £100.

Other good places to look are Fat Face and Accessorise have a range of leather bags.

Also check Clark's and Jones the Bootmaker.

It doesn't have to be leather but I've had a few bad experiences with fake leather bags recently

I have bought a few bags from Tuscany Leather. I have found them excellent quality for the price. They have lots of leather bags for under £100.

I got a bag from grandala as recommended on here.

Most are closer to £200, but they have frequent discounts, so you could get a nice bag for around £100.

My "everyday" handbag is leather, came from Gap about 10 years ago and is still going strong.

I have had a couple of nice ones from Autograph at M&S and Boden. I usually try to buy in the sale and get something for half price and pay about £40-50. Full price they are usually £70-130 for a leather bag.

I want something big enough to hold all the usual crap plus wipes and a couple of nappies. I like lots of pockets and prefer cross body. I love purple, the brighter the better.
