High waist bikini for a fairly large old woman.

I ordered one via amazon. XXL. But it wouldn't go over my knees. DD (size 10) looks fabulous in it.

Do I resign myself to a classic black one piece?

Or does a nicely cut bikini exist for a 40 year old size 16?

It's an odd place to suggest as generally a rather "old" shop but Bon Marche had a good range of one piece, tankinis and bikinis in larger sizes last week

Any use?

Bet you can find something nice here.

And everything comes up large so you may even need to size down.

40 isn't old btw Smile
Debenhams have high waisted bottoms and fold down bottoms which you can buy separately to mix and match with their bikini tops. I got two last year and wore a bikini in Ibiza for the first time in years!

Toast ones are lovely but sweet cheeses the prices!!!

Considering I am not likely to summon up the nerve to ever wear a bikini in public I'll possibly try bon marche first.

But good options. Thanks.

I am 41 and ordered bikini separates from simply be. They have big and small pants. I bought my bottoms in an 18 and a top in 36GG

I got black high waisted bikini bottoms from the Tesco website. They were £6 I think. Tesco are great for mix and match swimwear.

40 is a bit young for Bon Marche, no? I've spent the past two days looking - Sports Direct have a few if you're looking for bargains, Seafolly have nice ones of you want to splash out a bit, M&S have a good range of styles and shapes, Next, George, ASOS, River Island et al all have plenty but a bit too flesh baring for me...Wallis have a few too.

I think those high waister vintage styles look beautiful as long as no one is wearing them. On a real body (and not a 15 year old statuesque one) they are the most unflattering thing I've ever seen.

I need to try on a few I think. I fear I won't look like a 22 year old extra from a Hawaiian elvis film.

Saw a gorgeous one in a magazine the other day, might have been Tesco health one. It was navy and red and completely lovely. I'll see if I can find it for you.

I really like the Elomi swim range, I got some really highwaisted bikini bottoms from that range (practically reach my armpits!) and they only come in big sizes.

Oh fab. Maybe do some trying on in-store (debenhams, tesco etc) then if not too awful order nice version.

and lose a couple more stone before august

40 is not an old woman (says 45 year old).

I can't find it now, but a quick Google reveals quite a few similar ones.

Yes I second Elomi, their stuff is beautiful.

I got a really high waisted set from ASOS, love them. They are super-high though, like 50's style - I think you have to really go for it so it looks deliberate, rather than just big bottoms, iyswim.

Try Belle Lingerie. They have bra sized (Fantasie Panache Freya etc ) swimwear often 'last years styles' at far less than the RRP and free postage , Ive bought from them several times and they do accept returns ( though you pay postage back) ..

If they dont have the bottom to your top or vice versa its well worth looking around esp on ebay , to find the other bit.. ive just done that with a panache tankini ..

Belle Lingerie do the Elomi range as well and often list bargains on ebay as well as through their website.
