Not an order mistake, apparent colour variation.
What accessories!?
Its mid thigh, strapless, skater style block colour....think hot, Barbie pink.
Its for a graduation in September.
In my 20s, 5ft 2 with blond hair (want to avoid looking like Barbie!) . not a fan of wedges.
Trying to think through options before I go through the hassle of sending it back and looking again.

Just send it back

I'd send it back, it doesn't sound suitable for a graduation to be honest.

Grey would calm it down, or make a complete statement and go for electric blue, something like this ?

Are you the graduand or one of the audience?

Its DP 3rd graduation. All the others I've been to I've seen others in bright colours (last time I was navy dress with bright yellow Daisies). DP likes the colour so think it'll stay. Like the idea of grey!

Also I'm on a tight budget and this was the only dress I liked and could afford!

I'll have blond hair by then, got lilac now so does look a bit bright with the dress on now!

Do people wear strapless dresses to graduations nowadays then?

Report

The colour is fine, but strapless and thigh-length is inappropriate for a graduation.

Do you have a link or a photo?

Is it like this dress?

Yep it's the style rather than the colour that sounds inappropriate. Hot pink is lovely but that sounds like a teenage party dress rather than something that you'd wear to a formal event.

Be careful - your DP might want to check the dress code for you, at Surrey we had a dress code and I believe it was below the knee and no shoulders although not sure if that applied to guests as well.

I'll check the dress code but all the others I've been to people have been dressed like that.
Hmmm might re think it.
it looks expensive which helps.
Can't link a photo or link, but was on Amazon so if you look up "coral graduation dress" it'll come up.

DP decided the dress code was silly so didn't tell me about it as he wants me to look "sexy, not like his mother". So that dress is out.
Doesn't specify length but need my shoulders covered.
So ladies my budget is £20 (including p&p), I like floral, "girly" colours and something that will flatter my body. Go forth and help spend my money!

Looks ok style...but black makes me look dead! Not flattering. also as im short "midi" for most people is a strange just past mid calf length on me (hence I don't own any)

I could maybe push to £30 if it could be dresses down to an every day dress.....
Really struggling to find anything though....

A bizarre suggestion, but look at BHS 'occasion' dresses - surprisingly some half decent stuff in there, sale on til tomorrow.

I was about to say block heels would go well but see it's a no go now.

However, I love that cleo dress Minizilla linked.

Is it a graduation ceremony or a graduation ball? If its the ceremony then a day dress is what you want. It's not really the right occasion for 'sexy'.
