holiday capsule make-up bag?

I'm good at the holiday wardrobe and managing a week with only hand luggage. Struggling with the holiday make-up bag though.

Don't want to go for the trowelled-on make-up look in the sun as it will melt off my face and look vile, but I am pasty and look somewhat ill until I get my slap on in the morning. What do I need that will fit into one small make-up bag and will see me through a week in the sun?

I usually put in BB cream, cream blusher, mascara and a nude lipgloss. Maybe some eye makeup for evenings

I don't bother with much when on holiday. Nobody will really notice, especially after a day to take away the pallor!

BB cream
Mascara
An eyeshadow and a thin brush, so I can use it as eyeliner too
A natural-ish lipstick
Vaseline

Stick blusher, tinted lipbalm/sheer lipstick, decanted BB cream/tinted moisturiser, mascara, eyeliner pencil. Only the BB decant and mascara class as liquids, which makes doing hand luggage much easier.

Fab! I'm pretty much going to follow your guidance to the letter - I was faffing about wit eyeshadow palettes and all sorts and wondering why it wouldn't fit into the one small make-up bag I intend to take Smile.

I'm a big fan of eyeshadow pencils for a bit of colour on the eyes when travelling - very compact and easy to put on. Have a lovely gold one from Collection which just gives a bit of a glow to the eyelids, and some nice ones from Rimmel with more colour. Nice to have the option if you want a stronger eye for a night out.

I use holidays as an opportunity to buy a kit from duty free.

Holidays are generally the only time I don't bother. Mascara and Vaseline are all I take.

BB cream and concealer for dark circles. Something to fill in eyebrows as I'm pale. Mascara and maybe eye pencil which I use to tight line. And lip balm.

Cc cream, concealer, dark brown eyeliner for tight lining, eye lash curler, mascara, stick blush, one lipstick, lip balm and Chanel les ombres des illusion (I may have spelt that wrong) eyeshadow in mirage.

This gives me enough to change my look and go all eyes or all lips. I don't wear it all together.

Eyebrow pencil (I use one with a felt tip, non-melting).
Vaseline (which doubles as cleanser/moisturiser).

Holidays are time off make-up for me. I used to take along all my day to day stuff and never bothered with any of it, so I have stopped taking it.

I just take a tiny plastic pot of my chosen decanted foundation, a mini mascara, like you would get free with a magazine, my normal eyeshadows, an old eyeliner that is now short/small, and my lip gloss and bronzer.
I got some really good mini make up brushes from look fantastic which are perfect for holiday too.

V useful thread.

Can anyone recommend a BB/CC cream esp. if good for older skin?

thanks very much

remember that the rules are liquids, gels and pastes so all your slap needs to fit in the small plastic bag.

you don't look ill and you don't look pasty. You look normal.

enjoy your holiday, sounds like you need it!

correction; not all the slap. Pencils and solid lipsticks are apparently ok. They will still melt in seconds though.

I tint my eyelashes so don't need to take mascara.

Becca beach tint is great for adding a little colour to cheeks and lips that won't slide off immediately in the sun.

mascara isnt about colour for me, its definition and opening the eye.

Pencil eyeliners just melt, I haven't found any that don't. I take an angled eyeliner brush and stipple powder into my lashes. It stays on and gives a more natural look imo.

Waterproof mascara is a must for me when going anywhere hot, as anything else ends up smudged under my eyes giving me that panda look.

Otherwise I don't bother much. A lip stain maybe. Lipstick or gloss slides off.

The Bobbi brown one. It didn't melt
