FluffyCubs · 25/05/2015 19:43

So

Got a face fulla fillers but I just need radical.
I'm saving for a facelift
And bought a dermastamp
And am now considering ingesting untested c60 to combat ageing, even joined a bit of a cranky forum (longecity)

Anybody else being quite obsessed and stepping beyond creams etc?

Well I certainly feel completely pissed off about ageing but I remind myself that it's better than the alternative!

I'm a beauty product junkie and use all manner of creams and potions. I have considered Botox, going as far as to book an appointment but have decided on balance not to go ahead with it. It's a poison and I won't take those risks.

You sound a little obsessed yes! Don't take untested products because that's just daft. The best thing you can do is not smoke, don't drink, keep within a stone of your ideal weight and exercise and eat well. Treat yourself to lots of lovely make up and products and work on accepting what is after all a natural thing

I'm 43 btw. If you're 73 I take it all back

Oh for heaven's sake! Ageing is part of being human. I'd rather look old and natural than 'false-young' and full of plastic (or whatever other falseness). Far, far more tasteful and dignified.

I know.... I know.... Part of me wonders if I've developed dystrophia just totally obsessed. Was hoping I wasn't the only weirdo

I'm 41 and feel a bit that the changes that are happening to my face now are the start of looking in the mirror and not seeing 'me' - it was much worse in January when my skin literally looked grey. I bought some Dior radiance primer and Clarins beauty flash, and that seems to have helped.

Really not sure about Injectibles/fillers. IME, people who do them don't look younger, they just look like they've had work. My approach is looking the best I can, and trying to maintain an element of 'glow'. Wrinkles don't bother me, grey skin does though.

I'm planning on a brow lift soon as my eyes are suffering the worst with this ageing lark.

I have a young attitude body and hair (not one grey and waist length hair) but my face has aged horribly (stress, Irish skin)

I'm 35 and starting to notice changes in my face. I'm saving to have Botox on my 11s as they're very deep and won't rule out other stuff. I don't want to look old Sad

Well noone likes to see their face grow old. I was looking at Anne Robinson and thinking how bloody awful she looks. She has numerous things done. At first, she looked good but now - even although her face looks pretty smooth [ its stiff and she cant move her mouth though] its not that that gives her age away. Her neck and arms oh my god!!! What can you do? Do your best to embrace it. Its a slipper slope going for face lifts etc. You wlll great but then looking out for every little line to suggest that you need it fixed again. I have been lucky in my life. When i was young i was pretty and now i see it all fading. I just look at myself and say, not bad for 47

I don't know. I see people with a face full of wrinkles who look young and spirited because of their attitude to life and their energy. I see people who look plump and smooth and botoxed and ten years older than their real ages because of how dragged down by their fear of aging they obviously are - that's what they're putting out there.

I'm in my 30s and think I have far too many lines for my age, but I regularly get told I look a lot younger (and admittedly on one occasion a lot older, but that was after a night of no sleep, lots of stress and much crying, so I'm letting myself off the hook for that one). So overall i'm just trying to make good choices, be kind to myself and make my life an enjoyable one and hope that puts me firmly in the first category.

Totally agree with you ^^ Beauty comes from within and it can glow through wrinkles. people dont need to look beautiful to be attractive. It can come from within. I have seen many people who are stunning but are just horrible people. Its not just about the face.

I suppose what im saying is, its important to focus on within yourself. Obsessing about ageing makes people seem self absorbed.

I'm pissed off by ageing. Look in the mirror and see my mother's face staring back at me. I'm surprised how much it bothers me as I've never been that interested in my appearance until now.
It's only going one way, 50+ here and know that no matter what I do, I'll look good for my age at best.

You are considering using untested products? Shock
Please say you're joking.

Absolutely agree. Using products without proper testing and proof of effectiveness is crazy. No way worth it.

I don't use any creams etc because Im really sceptical and doubt that anything truly works. Plus I hate chemicals......and was disappointed at myself for weakening and going the filler route, but I just needed to lift my jowls a bit.

But by the time you've spent ten years buying fancy creams etc and fillers, you could have had a permanent facelift, don't you think?

Men aren't filling their face with deadly poison and having major surgery to stay looking younger, are they?
It's Patriarchal bullshit.
And you are falling for it.
Sadly a lot of it is down to genetics, then Outside factors such as if you smoke, drink, sun damage etc.
maybe spend the money on enjoying yourself?

I agree with you that anti ageing creams are a scam. I also hate my jowls but that's where we part company.

I'm vain as fuck so this doesn't come easily to me but I tell myself that looking older is nature's way of warning me that time is starting to run out. I don't want fillers or surgery lullling me into a sense of false security when I'd still be ageing on the inside. When I see my face in the mirror, it gives me kick up the arse and helps me focus.

Bit that makes no sense! You hate chemicals yet you're happy to have a face full of poison and consider taking untested tablets?

And yes, I have products that have cost me thousands. The trick is to enjoy using them though and then you don't fall into the trap of thinking ' oh I could have had a facelift for the money I've spent '

?
I'm not sure that facelifts are the best way to go, it's a very drastic intervention and even if you pick the best surgeon good results are not guaranteed.
Botox and fillers can be used incrementally incrementally and are still advised to maintain the results of a facelifts because surgery doesn't address the loss of volume and creasing caused by all that frowning and squinting.

I predict more and better anti aging treatments in the future, soon we will all be able to look 30 until we pop our clogs, just try and keep wrinkles and sagging at bay to be ready for the big breakthrough ?

Sounds like a case of more money than sense, you know that these expensive creams have no more effect than basic cheap moisturizers but you're happy to pay for the nose for them any way.

I make my own moisturizers out of beeswax and vegetable oils, I really enjoy using them?Wink
