Miss Dior the perfume

I hear they have changed it. I have never smelt the original. I have the new one. Its taken me a while to like it but now i really do. Loving the muskiness of it. The miss dior original has caught my interest though. I hear its much nicer. Can anyone tell me what its like? Is it nice? is it like any other scent? What is the predominant scent? Is the dry down nice?

I wore the original in my mid 20's (now 53) and it was beautiful. Whatever they've done to it, I don't like it now. Sacrilege IMO. It used to be quite musky sweet on me when it settled now it's just "chemically".

I'm debating whether or not to get some for my mum, it was always her absolute favourite Smile

I'm yet to find a Dior perfume that I don't like!

Well get her the originale or she will be disappointed as its not the same as the old version. It should say Miss Dior Originale on the box. I have the one that is just Miss Dior. It is actually Miss Dior Cherrie or something like that. Its so confusing!
Im going to get a sample of the originale. I am sure i will like it.

Does anyone know if the originale is like Dior original of the 80's or is that also a reformulation?

They are supposedly the same but they had to tweak it due to, was it Oak Moss or something that's no longer allowed. The 80's version is richer and better, sexier on the skin somehow.

But yeah, they didn't completely change it like they did with that Cherie nonsense.

Yes, the new alleged Miss Dior smells like syrup. Awful.

The 'originale' one is probably 80% similar to the 1980s version. It has a similar feel but has lost a bit of the herby, woody smell (Mrs Bojangles is right about the oakmoss). Still lovely though. Much nicer than the sweet, sticky-smelling perfumes everybody else seems to crank out.

I wear the original- Love it.

Has been slightly altered but it's my fav every day perfume.

The Miss Dior Cherie is instantly forgettable IMO.

I like the new one as it doesnt smell of the gourmand fragrances that are taking over.
Over the last year i have bought a couple of perfumes blind and they all smell the same. Sweet and sickly kind of turkish delight smells. I am tired of those scents. I have endless euphoria and it just smells the same as another lacoste one i have that also smells of one i have that is lolita lempicka!!!!
I have been buying some of the old ones now. This will be my next purchase!
Have chanel no 5 and allure. Got so many compliments wearing allure. It is a beautiful perfume.

MsBojangles thanks for the link. 2 ordered. I loved Miss Dior back in the day.

The Originale is not the original of the 70's / 80's.

Ah the Miss Dior saga.

I wore the first Miss Dior in the 80s.
Then they brought out Miss Dior Cherie , the one with Natalie Portman and which was supposed to smell of strawberries. Except it doesn't. Soap and Glory the Righteous Butter smells exactly like it, maybe even better.

Then they renamed the Cherie one into Miss Dior and the Miss Dior into Original.

Meanwhile they completely destroyed Dioressence which was a real beauty.
Idiots.

Such a shame really. Why on earth change it? They have also made it so confusing.

I used to LOVE Miss Dior, and Dioressence, and was completely gutted when they changed them.

Givenchy 3 was wonderful, now gone too.

I need a chypre, my last favourite was discontinued - La Prairie Life Threads Platinum. Took me ages to find one I liked that wasn't sickly sweet, and now my last bottle is nearly finished Hmm

I want to smell like a grown woman, not a bit of fruit.

Miss Dior Originale is one of my favourite ever perfumes and it annoys me a lot that they've done this. It's almost selling by deception as the 'new' version has the same packaging and logo. My lovely husband accidentally bought me the new version and I myself accidentally bought my mother the new version of the body cream. My 16-year-old daughter has done very well as we have both given her these mistakes. I think it smells OK on young girls.

I am saving up to buy a huge bottle of Miss Dior Originale in case it is discontinued.

And flighty I agree entirely. I am 51 and do not want to smell of fruit. I like usually go for citrussy-chypres such as Diorella or Cristalle, but Miss Dior was my comfort scent for when I needed to feel feminine and comforted but not too sweet, IYSWIM.

I wear the new one but then i have nothing to compare it to. I am intrigued by the old version so am also going to buy it. I really like the new one now but it has taken a while to really like it. I think what it is is the fact it isnt anything like the fruity or smelling of sweets smells out atm. So tired of them.

They are not two versions of one scent.
They are completely different beasts.

Greengardenpixie · 26/05/2015 21:20

Yes, i realise that. I have been on fragantica and really like the sound of the old one.
The dior originale is the closest to the original 80's scent.
The new dior Miss Dior is actually Miss dior Cherie but just called miss dior now!!!
Thats why there is SO much confusion. Its ridiculous!!!

I was a Diorella girl before they changed it.I wore it for my wedding. I've never found anything that quite lives up to it since.

I rather like Diorissimo though. DH bought me a huge bottle for Christmas. I'll be wearing it for years.
