Cocktail dress needed for 18 year old DD

DD needs to dress suitable for her school leavers party that will also be ok to go 'clubbing' in afterwards! Any advice on shops etc? She is a large size 10, small size 12 and doesn't suit clingy bodycon lipsy style dresses. She also is quite pale, so don't want something too wishy washy. Any advice/suggestions gratefully received - thanks!

Forgot to say she normally wears play suits and the only dress she found//liked for an Xmas do was a shift style.

How cocktaily does it need to be? What's the budget?
Does a skater dress style suit her?

Would she like a something a bit vintage looking?

Asos have a great selection of dresses - they also do free delivery and returns so you could try a couple on?
www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Embellished-Stand-Collar-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4324683&cid=11057&Rf-400=53&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Nude&totalstyles=203&gridsize=3

that would be great with some 60's style make-up - winged eyeliner and slightly beehive hair.

topshop is always a good option - a skater style is very flattering. something like this? www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/dresses-442/fitted-striped-dress-4415067?bi=1&ps=20

or leopard print, this is really fun www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/dresses-442/leopard-jacquard-bardot-dress-4348977?bi=1&ps=200

If she is not happy in dresses and mainly wears playsuits, why not get a smart one? Or a jumpsuit?

Thanks for all your replies! I will have a look through them tonight with DD. She definitely wants a dress and not a playsuit - for once Grin

I could see her in the Asos dress that Bumble linked to except the colour. She would not go for the nude one and would like something other than black as that is what she normally wears.
Any other suggestions? Thanks

Coffeenut - I think you've 'nailed it' to use 18 year old's speech
We will be off to Oasis - thank you!
