I was thinking top five make up items, or beauty products that would be your desert island products, but could be top five whatever you want, really! You might be able to tell that I am procrastinating at work today.

Top 5 desert island make up:

Loreal Manga Eyes Mascara - I've only just discovered this but it has totally replaced Max Factor in my affections. The pictures looked scary but it looks so nice on.

Benetint - I like this as a blush (have to have blush as I tend towards the dull and pasty throughout the day) and can double up as a lip tint.

Benefit Boing concealer - covers everything.

Eyebrow pencil - not that fussy about which one, but I have noticed my eyebrows slowly disappearing with age and now cannot be without an eyebrow pencil.

Garnier BB cream - I couldn't decide on a foundation, and then I was thinking about powders as I'm prone to a bit of shine, but most days I can get away with just this and a smidge of concealer.

I'm now in bits thinking of leaving all eyeliners and eyeshadows behind

Benefit Posy Tint - looks so natural but gives a nice colour

Estée Lauder Mascara - any one

Laura Mercier Baby Lips Lipstick - nice natural colour

MAC eyebrow pencil

Nivea tinted moisturiser

Benefit Georgia powder (discontinued but I stocked up and probably have about a year's supply left)

Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes eyeshadow palette (muted pinky-browns and darker greyish brown)

Avon Glimmersticks eyeliner in taupe

Avon Supershock Mascara in black

I do wear blusher and lipstick sometimes but they are not nearly as important to me.

Benetint
Lancome Definicils mascara (though I like Rollerlash a lot too)
Soap and Glory lipstick in Perfect Day
Urban Decay Naked palette

These are the only four I use/buy over and over.

This is a great idea, but what works on one skin type/age/ complexion won't necessarily work on another, so maybe ( like makeupalley reviews), we need a disclaimer as to what kind of skin type we are. .?

No7 Protect and Perfect Foundation in Cool Ivory.
Nars Orgasm blusher.
Clinique Quickliner in Extreme Mocha.
Mac matt eyeshadow in Brûlée.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
Mac Opulash Mascara.
Clinique Eyebrow Pencil and highlighter in Soft Blonde.

I couldn't pick five. I need these as the bare minimum Grin

Yes I agree, literally EVERY bb cream I've tried comes out with a nasty pink or orange tinge and leaves a tide mark, would love to find one that suits my olive skin. Anyway here goes:
Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick 'la raffinee'
L'oreal true match foundation in golden beige (perfect for my yellow under tones)
Bourgeois Bonnet Mine healthy mix blush
Olay beauty serum
Estée Lauder sumptuous extreme mascara

Top five products (which may not be great on a desert island, tbh) would be:

YSL Radiant Touch foundation
Mac blush in Frankly Scarlet - this sounds terrifying but it isn't at all!
Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara
Guerlain Meteorites
Red lipstick - I have loads so picking a favourite is hard. Maybe Nars Annabella at the mo.

I'd also like:

Shu eyelash curlers
A neutral eyeshadow
Smashbox primer
Benefit Browzings
Black liquid eyeliner

Oh I'd have to have separate top five skin care. I'll have to think on that one. Much harder for me than make up!

Oh god, these threads will make my credit card explode!
Age 49, skin dry.

Astral
Carmex
Neal's Yard Frankincense oil
Chanel 19
The Holy Grail foundation I am still searching for. Grin

I do love make up and always wear it, or I look like a rabbit with flu, but I'm not as faithful to brands.

I would have somewhat different picks for a freezing island somewhere off Svalbard:

Eucerin 5% urea cream
Lily Lolo mineral foundation in Porcelain
Chanel lipstick or Chanel Narcisse blusher
Bioderma micellar
Guerlain Vega perfume

I'm 42 and have dry/normal very pale acne/rosacea/perioral prone skin.
I always pack these when I travel in winter.

I don't have many skincare items which I stick with long term tbh.

However, I will have:
Aveeno body moisturiser
La Roche Posay barrier repair hand cream
Avene water spray (for cooling down on a hot desert island)

Clarins Eau Dynamisante
Carmex or Blistex lip balm
Concealer
Boots no7 Sheet Temptation lipstick in Entice
Liz Earle toner

Would also need eye drops in case of hayfever, Liz Earle eyebright plus a never ending supply of Gaviscon but these come under 'medicinal' so I'm not counting them in my five! Grin

For a desert island five I would go for...

My mason & pearson hairbrush
Jo Malone Vit E body scrub
Lip balm ... Hard to choose which one?
Perfume .. Again trying to narrow my choice
Body crime/oil .. Still narrowing down ....good thing I am not planning on being marooned anytime soon ! My 7 records was easier !

Dove deodorant
Razor
Max factor Masterpiece mascara
Sweet almond oil- used it as moisturiser on holiday when the travel one I took set my face on fire, it was fab
body butter- my hand- made one, which is better than any in the shops

Fortunately I temporarily lose the need to wear a full face of makeup at all times when tanned and in the sun.

I don't think we need to include deodorant/tampons. They must surely go in essentials, like Jickchick has a medicinal category Grin

Okay, top five skin care (might try and post a picture of my hoard later so you can see how difficult this was!)

Tata Harper Nourishing Cleansing Oil - I normally second cleanse with this, or morning cleanse, but it does remove make up and can't really have two cleansers.

Bravura Calendula toner - nicest one I have found for every day use.

Aesop Parsley seed anti-oxidant serum - I have only had a tester of this but I will be ordering the full size. It is fantastic stuff, and the best all-rounder serum I have tried.

MV Organics Instant Revival Booster - this would be my face oil. So, so lovely.

Dirty Works 8 in 1 Miracle Cream - as I'm not having separate day and night creams to keep it to five items, this is good for both. Sufficiently moisturising as a night cream but also a good make up base.
