I know someone who can get them (a friend of a friend, she sells rep bags on facebook grin )

its real leather and the pics look like they are good quality and look pretty much same as the real ones

she sells them for £95, the real ones are over £1000 I think and no way could I or would I spend that on a bag

has anyone ever done this? (not necessarily this brand) what was the quality like?

Try Here seems the website is based in UK

I expect the quality of fake bags would be very variable so maybe you could see what reviews she has on her fb page.Be aware that the pictures may not be of the actual bags she is selling and may be stock pictures. I'm not a fan of fake bags myself and would rather buy a handbag from a legitimate source.

I really wouldn't - have you read anything about fakes and how they're made/links with organised crime?

SavoyCabbage Sat 22-Aug-15 09:33:36

It's a fake you would be buying not a 'replica'!

Don't do it. As verenti says, the photos could well be stock ones. It's fairly standard practice for counterfeiters to use photos of the genuine designer product rather rather than the one you'll actually get.

If the workmanship is crappy, you won't have much comeback when the zip breaks or the stitching comes apart or the dye leaks. Much better to spend the same amount of money on a good quality bag from the high st.

I wouldn't feel too great about supporting trafficking, drugs smuggling and organised crime OP but that's just me I suppose smile
On a more constructive note, if your budget is around £100 there are plenty of good quality leather bags around from smaller and less known manufacturers.

try tkmaxx?

The profits of fake goods like these are used to fund terrorism. I really couldn't live with that. Have you tried looking for a second hand bag instead? Might be a bit more expensive but you will have a clear conscious.

NoArmaniNoPunani Sat 22-Aug-15 11:28:48

I would never do this for reasons already mentioned. It's odd that FB allow this.

burnishedsilver Sat 22-Aug-15 11:35:00

Maybe find out more about the bags and where they come from. There's a lot of assumptions being made.

MrsCampbellBlack Sat 22-Aug-15 11:36:52

Well yes, the 'fake' designer bag industry isn't exactly renowned for being great is it?

TheWatchersCouncil Sat 22-Aug-15 11:37:55

A replica is a fake, pure and simple. At best, it is just tacky to carry a fake. At worst, it is morally reprehensible, for the reasons already mentioned. I suppose it depends on your moral compass. I couldn't bring myself to do it, and I'm afraid I think less of people who do.

Whatthefoxgoingon Sat 22-Aug-15 11:45:47

No way. I'd feel like a complete fraud. I got a phantom for my last birthday, tbh I don't carry it much. It's a lovely bag though.

I wouldn't buy fake or 'replicas' as you put it. I have several genuine designer ones & i saved for them or dh bought them as gifts. I don't like the idea of having a fake & its background & by buying it what I may be funding .
If you really want one won't you feel happier & pleased to have saved for a genuine one ?

TheWatchersCouncil Sat 22-Aug-15 12:06:24

OP - if you want a Phantom, why not consider second hand? Yes, still expensive, but more affordable than new, and possibly something you could save up for.

RachelZoe Sat 22-Aug-15 15:00:34

Don't do it. It's not terribly ethical for one thing and anyone who knows what they're looking for will spot it a mile off, it's tacky.

Don't do it. Although, in fairness, you don't know that any of the above applies to these (It doesn't always), there's still the issue of quality and also stealing designs is just wrong.

Have to admit though, before the design 'theft' thing bothered me (which is does now due to me being a designer lol), years ago I had a replica Chloe Paddington in red. Was a gorgeous bag but fell apart rather quickly, much to my annoyance.

Don't touch!
