See through running tights

carrie74 · 16/02/2015 12:12

So my running tights (from a great brand: RonHill) which I wore this morning to the gym are totally see through when I bend over Blush. I didn't relly need my personal trainer seeing my heart-covered pants this morning. This is one of my biggest complexes in sports wear. All I want is technical stuff (that I can wear to gym and out on a run) that isn't see through when doing the child pose (and doesn't slip down when running, and has space for my phone and keys).

I'm popping into town this afternoon on an emergency visit. Where should I go? I'm wary of normal High St shops jumping on the sportswear bandwagon, but if someone can guarantee me a recommendation of running tights that can also be used at the gym, I'd be eternally grateful.

I have some from h and m which are great...completely opaque, comfy, stay up and wash really well. Not all stores have the fitness range though and they only have a small key pocket so wouldn't fit your phone. Tk maxx also have great sportswear but hit and miss for sizes and styles.

John Lewis sell Ronhill. I have a couple of cropped pairs, they are great quality, but to be honest they are not my favourites. My go to pairs are Lulu Lemon Run Inspire II crops (you can order online). Sweaty Betty are also good quality.

Oh god, that's my holy grail. I went shopping for new running tights to wear to my bodybalance class, and every single flipping pair went see through when I bent over and peered at my arse in the mirror. Every bloody pair. So I bought a job lot of black pants instead!

First off, nude seam free pants are your friend.

Lululemon I find really thick and reliable, and sweaty Betty, but actually my H&M ones are a pretty close runner up at about 20% of the price.

Urgh, thank you all. Tried on 4 pairs at Sweatty Betty, and the Define Workout leggings were great. But £70. I'll wait for a code/sale...

My husband's suggestion was black pants. I have nude, I'll try those too.

I do need some new sportswear trousers, so I'll keep looking. I'm off to the U.S. next month, so may just wait til I can get to a Lululemon.

I try and test them out in the changing room but nothing can compare to a sun-drenched mirror clad classroom.I would try Txmaxx for Kyodan (google them for controversial comparisons to well known citrus brand) and 90 degree by reflex. I have never tried the sweatty betty sports pants but my yoga ones are going strong after eight years. I get codes but only for a standard 15% off.
I'd probably try Gap next time esp if in the US.

Gap and sports direct sell karrimor. None of the pairs I have are see through. I checked!
Also have some quite thick jersey adidas ones. They are 3/4 length with pink stripes at the bottom.

I have a Nike pair (from Sports Direct), and also some from Costco (own brand), and neither are see-through. Nice sturdy fabric.

I've just been wondering the same thing op. I have karrimor running tights and they're slightly see through, I'm going to try some nikes once I've lost a bit more weight.

I have some Adidas running tights which are amazingly comfortable and definitely not see through. I didn't like the Karrimor ones. These are the ones I'm very pleased with - wearing them now! www.wiggle.co.uk/adidas-womens-response-long-tight-aw14/

Two types do well for me: Nike Epic Run in patterned fabrics (hides VPL also) and Sweaty Betty Dynamic Yoga leggings. The latter are so comfy and utterly opaque. I got a fetching purple pair for £30 in the sale at Xmas.

Also, not very long ago I spent 15 minutes bending down in front of a mirror in Lululemon and found that none of their leggings were genuinely opaque.

I feel your pain! Having a massive bum like me also doesn't help! I find 2xu compression tights good, though I geberally size up in them. Otherwise I wear cheapy BIG shorts type pants under other leggings. At least you have realised, took me several years of wearing see through ones before happening to a gym class where my boyfriend d was stood behind me!

Sports Direct
USA pro running tights are nice and thick with a good stretch.
DO NOT get the LA GEAR stuff, its bloody awful quality!

Tk maxx
Penn State- pretty happy with my yoga tights

H&M
Great style and fit but losing their shape after 1 year.

Useful topic OP, thanks for starting.

I hope everyone keeps posting with suggestions. Smile. Further requirements for me (as well as opaque) are pocket big enough for an iphone, and no zips on the ankle so I can wear them for pilates/yoga. We really dont need to be conned into buying a pair of leggings/tights for every sport when one sensibly made pair would do. I've already had great help from MN'rs suggesting wearing padded cycle shorts under running tights.

GiniCooper or Nilby please could you do a link to the USA Pro ones you have as there seems to be loads of different ones? Thanks.
