I am going to a wedding on Saturday and I just wondered if people still wear fascinators or are they naff?? The wedding is being held in a very lovely venue and I am sure there will be some very well dressed people there. I didn't know anyone else who is going as it is my DH's work colleague who is getting married.

From my Facebook feed, I would say yes.

I'm quite fond of a fascinator myself wink
They probably aren't in fashion anymore but who cares?
Wear what makes you happy I say.

Love them! Any excuse to dress up and feel fab, who cares what everyone else is doing!

I have just been to a very stylish wedding & the answer is definitely no.

So what is the way to go these days regarding head wear for weddings.

Patatas Sat 31-Jan-15 23:05:45

Watching with interest before I dust off my fascinator for a wedding in a few weeks. Dh absolutely detests it, but it makes me feel more dressed up for a wedding.

I ditched fascinators in the last decade then moved to flouncy flowers.

Past the age of the invites now - so following grin

People did at my wedding 10 months ago.

Are fascinators ever okay ? On anyone ? Even the most stylish celeb ?? I think they are a strange and slightly cringy fashion that people just fall for. confused

chickydoo Sat 31-Jan-15 23:42:04

No! Not in a million years!

CocktailQueen Sat 31-Jan-15 23:44:32

Yes! If you like them and they suit you, then go for it. Was at. V stylish wedding in the summer and lots of people wore fascinator a...

I love them, but they have to make a statement..... not just a teensy flower with a feather !!

BritabroadinAsia Sun 01-Feb-15 02:48:28

Please don't.

LadyB49 Sun 01-Feb-15 06:39:10

So what do we wear instead of a fascinator?

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle Sun 01-Feb-15 06:45:52

A hat!! Wear an actual hat. I love hats.

Rinkydinkypink Sun 01-Feb-15 07:26:00

A hat or get your hair done with a statement hair hair accessory. Not a fascinator.

MuttonCadet Sun 01-Feb-15 07:29:16

Yes, a hat. Fascinators died a death when they were banned from the Royal Enclosure at Ascot.

Eastpoint Sun 01-Feb-15 07:29:54

Hats, not fascinators.

Trills Sun 01-Feb-15 10:35:46

How old are you?

CocktailQueen Sun 01-Feb-15 12:30:07

Some people suit hats, Some don't. Wear what you prefer.

WaitingForMe Sun 01-Feb-15 12:46:01

How long is your hair? My hairdresser is doing a very complicated up-do (looks like a big bow) for my stepbrothers wedding this summer.

I do like my fascinators but this wedding will be a bit too stylish.

Knittingbat Sun 01-Feb-15 13:54:25

Now WHERE are people getting reasonably priced wedding hats from? I love hats (DH thinks are VILE, I mean not like I care, but it's good to have someone going 'Darling, don't you look LOVELY in that fluttery expensive hat' rather than retching in the umbrella stand etc.)

But I want one that is not a granny hat but is not £500. Or even £100. Maybe about £80.

Everyone else seems to find cute little pillboxes etc but WHERE?

Armpitt Sun 01-Feb-15 13:57:22

GOPPING. I've always hated. Get your hair done instead

Google Annie Lennox speaking to the Queen about fascinators! I'd say they are a firm NO!
