My lips feel shredded

This cold is killing them, I am using carmex but it doesn't seem to help.

I use Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm which is fab, but to be honest you might be best trying to stick to what you're using. Carmex is medicated and that's what you need for chapped lips- bog standard lip balms aren't going to cut it, you need to put moisture back into the skin rather than adding a barrier like Vaseline or a cheap/fashiony balm (eos balls, I'm looking at you!).

Are you drinking plenty of water as well as using lip balm? I find dehydration really affects my lips. For lip balm, I find body shop vit E and burts bees are good, but I like a good thick greasy balm! Find Vaseline too thin and wears off too quickly for me.

The best lip stuff for me is Lucas Paw Paw ointment. If my lips are peeling, then day and night. Else, before I go to bed. The paw paw helps heel the lips, and the other stuff helps moisturise / provide a barrier.

Lanolips is fantastic stuff - I have converted lots of people to it. I find if I use anything else I have to keep applying it. I keep Lanolips by my bed and only really use it at nighttime but can still feel it when I wake up. You can buy it in Waitrose or Boots.

Are you drinking enough water? Also try omega oil tablets, they have transformed my dry face skin that affects my lips too.

blistex! my lips were awful until trying this a week ago. boots had them all half price so I bought a few different varieties. they're fab!

If you've got any lanolin nipple cream... that really is the best - leave it on over night.

Another vote for nuxe, it's the best of the 100s of lip balms I've tried.

Try shea butter. I know it's a bit unusual to put it on your lips, but it does wonders

Vaseline Aloe Vera lip balm in those little round tins, cheap as chips and it works. (get them in the pound shop otherwise they are £2 a tin in Boots).

Nuxe is the best I've tried - seems expensive but the pot is bigger than others and it lasts ages on the lips.

Anything petroleum based will dry them more long term. So Vaseline etc aren't going to help. Blistex is an exception as its fantastic as a short term emergency measure if they are chapped and sore though.

I use Burts Bees which is beeswax based (surprisingly enough!) but any non-mineral oil based one will work well. If they start cracking in cold weather I use a tiny bit of leftover Lansinoh which usually sorts it out without needing to resort to Blistex.

I find putting normal moisturiser on my lips then covering with balm really helps

Blistex is the only thing that works for me when my lips are really sore - but it has to look like this They are buggers for bringing out multiple different products that aren't quite as good as the original cream!

As well as the blistex to heal and stop the pain, put vaseline on your lips at night to get rid of all the chapping and flaky bits.

My toothpaste was making my lips sore and peeling. I can't use anything that whitens and I've recently found out that the Oral B Pro toothpaste recommended by my dentist has the same effect. I found Cymex was the best thing until they healed.

Another vote for Lansinoh nipple cream. Infact I'm rubbing on a layer of blistex and then slather on a layer of Lansinoh on top every night. Drinking water doesn't help for me. I'm definitely not dehydrated, just got dry lips.

I like Eliz Arden 8 hour lip thingy. Comes in plain or tinted. Was the only thing that ever soothed my Roaccutane-dried-out lips.

I use snowfire someone on here recommend it actually, although the "taste" is vile but my lips can become so chapped and cracked without it that I can be in constant pain. Blistex just won't touch it.. Its cheap and lasts ages too.
