Face vs figure?

I've realised that over the last year I have put on weight and have just had it confirmed at a gym weigh in :( I've had to consign some of my clothes to storage as they don't fit and my thighs have definitely got wider.

BUT my face looks so much better for it, a year ago I had hollow cheekbones and always looked ill. Plus I've gone up to an almost c cup from an a (although this may be the pill, in fact that could be the cause of the weight gain)

So I need to choose, skinny thighs and a gaunt face? I could carry that look off a few years ago but now at 40 it's not as good!

Always go with the face =)

A more rounded figure for non juvenile ladies is best, fills out any wrinkles, looks less unhealthy...

Whichever feels best to you! I was always a waif. Then due to meds, put on loads of weight very swiftly. I worried and whittled for about a year, falling for the ingrained belief that my lighter weight was naturally preferable to my heavier weight.

When I stopped to think, I realised I not only felt better heavier but probably do look better for it too!

My face and figure go together and look best slim.

I'd always go with the face. But there might only be a half stone window where you go from slim body/slim face to slimmer body/too skinny face.

My clothes no longer fit me & but my face looks youthful. I don't have that lovely bloom anymore but the chubby chops are staving off wrinkles. I'd love to get back in my jeans. I don't want to be fat & forty. I was always slim until 35. Now I'd have to make a much bigger effort to be a size 10 again (am 12, pushing 14).
But I'm afraid of losing my face. I have long hair that's still shiny & brown, so that helps. A hangy face & witchy hair are my worst nightmare, but it's such a fine line... I'm planning to lose weight slowly over a year. Hopefully my plan will work for cheeks, both face & bum!

Figure for me because I like feeling slim. A pot belly feels horrible. I feel freer and more energetic when I am slim. Even 4 or 5 lbs makes a difference.

Try facial exercises while losing weight to maintain tone in your face..I starteddoing this when my face started to look gaunt at 27 - need to go back to it now at 35

I would prefer to be slim than carry extra weight. Friends who put weight on say it got rid of some of their wrinkles but they feel jowly.

I think I will try to drop half a stone and reassess! It will probably just come off my face and chest!!

Figure for me, too.

When I put on weight, one of the first places it goes to is my face. I don't want chubby cheeks, nor for there to be any hint of jowl (41 and paranoid).

If I could put on a bit of weight, and still have cheekbones that could slice pineapples, a la Nigella, then I would embrace it, but sadly I can't.

I also tend to think that extra weight may pad out the lines, but it's still one of the most ageing things you can do, post 40. You may have one a battle, but you haven't won the war, type situation.

Figure for me, being slightly overweight makes it hard to dress in a way that isn't frumpy....I don't like the more flattering classic, elegant, grown up clothing - I like slightly edgy and it's hard to pull off when your an hourglass nevermind when you're slightly overweight hourglass.

Figure for me too. I think being overweight can be quite aging as well.

BTW the pill has no effect on weight or breast size. No evidence. Were you too thin before?

40 is nothing. Getting older is better than dying young. And this face vs figure thing is surely from the 1950s?

you will get a wrinkly and sagging face as you age. Lift it by smiling.

The pill really has no effect? They are much fuller now than they have been for years, I presumed that was why!

I would probably have been classed as bordering on too thin before, even though I didn't think I was. I could fit in Primark size 6 jeans. They have been sent to the charity shop now!!

Figure for me too- I have lost three stone in the last eighteen months and my face also looks better for it.

I started the Eva Fraser facial exercises about 6 months ago in the hope of delaying the sagging face not sure that will happen though as my mum who doesn't have that many wrinkles but she has jowls and so did my gran so I may be fighting a losing battle. But even if I can delay it for a bit that would be something.

The pill makes me into a fat psycho.

The evidence is when I take the pills I'm a fat psycho and when I stop taking them I am not a fat psycho.

My face looks better when I'm not fat, so I don't really have this dilemma.

My dilemma is that with a bit of extra weight my naked boobs have a better shape - less like a golf ball in a sock. But bigger chests are hard to dress, so I look better skinny when clothed. Dh would never comment either way.

Toastandstrawberryjam · 17/01/2015 10:54

That is exactly how I would describe my boobs when I weighed less. They aren't perfect now (4 years breastfeeding I guess) but they look like I actually have some. I'd rather not lose them again!!

Yes, I find that I'm getting jowly / double chin. I've got good cheekbones, so I'd like to see them again!
The extra weight makes me feel frumpy. I was a lot more stylish before... And felt much fitter too.

The Pill blew up my body as well as my mind. I've only taken it a couple of times for a very short time. The effects were dramatic!

Report
Toastandstrawberryjam · 17/01/2015 11:13

I'm not sure what to think about the pill now. I have definitely become curvier but I assumed it was from gaining weight, although I was always naturally a pear shape I seem more balanced now. Stopping taking it isn't an option so if that is causing the weight gain I need to take action in other ways.
