hello oh stylish ones.

i have a big birthday coming up and its time to start looking after myself. my skin is very pale and looking extra washed out at the moment and i need to start the fight against ageing.

can anyone recommend a one pot wonder. sorry i havent the time or the funds for all different serums and lotions and potions at the moment. i have a primer that i use for special days out. i suppose i just want a moisturiser that protects from the elements (i run sometimes) and that fights off wrinkles.

combination skin :) thank you all so much your advice is greatly appreciated. Flowers

Superdrug Vitamin E Cream with SPF - wonderful and only about £2.49. Sometimes buy one, get one half price

On the advice of many MNetters I had a go with the Nivea in a blue pot. I love it! It's so thick and creamy and is the first thing I've used that really helps with my dry patches. Toddler DS loves poking his fingers in it too Smile

Astral is wonderful - very hydrating and gives my skin a lovely glow. Cheap as chips too

I use rosehip oil every morning and night. Lovely, easily absorbed.

Another vote for blue pot Nivea. However I now just use it at night. My go-to day moisturiser is 'simple and sunkissed' - moisturises but also builds a very light tan - not orangey or anything.
Both cheap as anything.

I use Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter, it's a wonder cream for everyone's skin! Started using it when DC 3 was born (five years ago) and it's great on my face. I use it at night, as in day time I need SPF (family history of skin cancers) but it makes skin soft and radiant.

Re the SPF thing, I use baby butter at night and a factor 50 sun lotion in day. Have to put it on in time to sink in a bit but then can do light make up on top.

thanks perspective. i was wondering about the spf its def on the list of things needed in the one pot wonder cream. if i have too many things to put on i sometimes get lazy.

i was using neutrogena multi defence which has spf but i dont think any anti ageing things which is why im looking for something new. the search continues. thanks everyone.

Try the Olay Complete 7 in 1. My combo skin is happy on that and it has a sunscreen and effective anti aging ingredients. Absorbs nicely too. Think it is about 15 pounds? Not the cheapest option but does it all.

I know what you mean about lots of pots and lotions!! I find I can stick easily to one for day and one for night, especially motivated by the fact father and three siblings have all been zapped several times at dermatology clinics Sad I have very typical Celtic skin and love Nivea sun protection. I'm desperately trying to stay away from consultant dermatologists!

Good luck with your quest Smile

For day, La Roche Posay Redermic UV, anti ageing with SPF, I find it very good

L'Oreal extraordinary oil is gorgeous for night time, massage it in, smells divine and on offer in Boots at the moment I think

I'm 45 and use these two and my skin is looking good Smile

I usually use a tinted moisturiser in the daytime (Boots No7 with SPF15) and then a normal moisturiser at night. I don't bother with night creams, serums, eye creams etc. If I wear foundation then I will put normal moisturiser underneath (same as I use for night) as foundation will have SPF in it too.

I would just find a cream that feels ok on your skin - the cheaper the better - plus an SPF. I know that's two pots not one but I never trust the creams that say they include SPF.

Personally, I think SPF is the only anti ageing ingredient worth bothering with. The rest, in my very humble opinion, is horse shit. If fact horse shit would probably be just as effective, if a bit stinky.

I love olay total effects. Had a bad skin episode few months ago and this stung like heck on day 1. But now after perseverance my skin is clear and smooth.

I do have eczema and its all gone from my face.
