WTF has happened to my hair post pregnancy?

Dear god, it's getting worse and worse! I have always had long, shiny, thick hair, wavy from mid length, courtesy of my mother Wink

It was awesome during pregnancy, but since ds arrived 16 months ago it's deteriorated to an out of control, fuzzy, sticky-uppy, scarecrow mop. I used to straighten it when I had 5 mins to myself and it took me literally minutes as it stayed straight-ish. Now I wash, condition/masque and blow dry it which takes ages, it still looks a total state. Even if I try and straighten it afterwards, it's lost that sleek, shiny, swishy, groomed look. I don't think it's dry, my scalp can be oily. I've spent a small fortune on shampoo. I've resorted to a bloody baseball cap when off work this week!

Anyone had a similar experience or have some recommendations? I'm considering getting it chopped off, but I had a more layered cut last time which was a disaster. Fine in the salon but like crystal tips thereafter.

yes, this has happened to me too.

I never had that thing that so many women talk about, of hair falling out after pregnancy. I just ended up getting more and more hair each pregnancy.

The only tip I can give is to invest in a really really good hairdryer, it makes a huge difference.

Thanks treacle I didn't lose hair either, it was fine until ds was about 7 months then it went ferral. It just seems....erm....frizzy, extra curly, wiry? I've even got corkscrew curls at the sides now. Not nice ones though. I look a total state at work, like I've just been through a hedge via a wind tunnel Blush

Do hair driers make a big difference? Mines ancient. What would you recommend?

Everyone here recommends Parlux hairdryers but they were beyond my budget. Grin

I went for an ETI , think it's called Turbo dryer. It's great. First time in years that I've got my lovely swishy hair back.

Unfortunately it's totally normal...as mega unfortunate as that is. Mine went mega mega thin and limp was convinced I was losing it (hair not mind!) but hairdressing friend reassured me that I wasn't experiencing hair loss as such out just the hormonal change was causing it to not be as thick and bouncy. For a while i couldn't wear hair in a ponytail as it looked like I was receding...! I kept up with regular trims and didn't use anything heavy in it. I've also heard investing in a really good hairdryer is a must anyway so you could see if that works. Hope it does.

This happened to me too, except my scalp has become really itchy too, nasty. My hairdresser recommended nioxin and it's been really good, I have my swish back!
