A mini rant about bras

WipsGlitter · 29/12/2014 17:49

Went to M&S today and was perusing the bras. There were loads and loads of padded ones. Why?? Do most people want enhancement - I'm a 38c and there's no way I want extra padding!! Plus they look so stiff.

Also what is the point of a 'balcony' bra?

I tried on one same size as my current M&S bra and it was awful. Squeezed my boobs right together with a huge cleavage.

Gave up and went home!

I'm guessing you haven't done a bra intervention!

I do. I am a meagre 32B and need every bit of help available to not look like a boy Sad. Not everyone is as well endowed as you

I suspect that you aren't a 38C either. You need the bra interventionists to help you with sizing.

I bet you're not a 38C.

????Waits for intervention to start ???

I am a 32D. I have quite a small chest so buy padded balcony bras. Even with these I have no cleavage. I want the enhancement plus I like the padding so that my nipples aren't on display.

Right, step one - go and find a tape measure...

If you are really a 38C, then your actual breasts will be quite small, so some padding might be just right.

Balcony the bras are good for those of us who have lost fullness (age, primary engorgement etc) over time and so need to be 'held' more at the underneath.

(PS: if M&S fitted to 38C, there's a good chance that you are actually a 34F)

Oh, I am not an interventionist by the way, but you'll need a tape measure for when they get here.

It sounds like we have all been evangelised by the interventionists Smile

You called? Grin

Start here for an idea of your true size. It may vary slightly but will usually be a lot closer than anything M&S can come up with.

I was 38c according to M&S. After the lovely ladies on here intervened and with regular scooping to retrain boob tissue out from under my armpits, I'm now a 34E

BRA INTERVENTION

marks place

Can I ask a naive question?

If you wear an ill fitting bra or no bra at all does your breast tissue naturally migrate to under you arms? I ask this because I keep reading about scooping. I have nothing to scoop so I don't know the answer myself.

I'm a 34D and yep I want padding - if that answers your question, it adds support not enhancement.

I'm a A-cup, and I'd rather not have padding. I fully accept that some people do - but half the time, there's no choice.

EBearhug - measure yourself as per marriednotdeads link and post your measurements - the bra gurus will give you your true size.......It probably isn't an A cup

so if I'm a 31.5 and 36, what would that be?

I'm a 32F & feel your pain (although you do need The Intervention!). I hate that it's so difficult to get a non-padded or moulded bra that isn't the sodding Doreen Grin. I've not bought one of those, you understand!

I've been looking for a non-padded, lace plunge bra. Easier to find the Holy Grail I reckon.

Don't dispute some people want padding. Just some choice would be nice!

For the love of all that is holy DON'T go to M&S to be measured!

lurkingaround · 29/12/2014 19:02

Tribble, I'm no interventionist, but I reckon try a 32D or 30DD or 30E. The experts will charge up their iPads be along forthwith.

balcony bras are because Romeo likes them.....
M&S bra selections are dire in the extreme.

Oh, goody. I need a bra intervention as I've lost some weight. I was a 38G but now I am 36/47 so does that make me a 36H? 38g is on the tightest notch and the cups are too big.

I was in M&S today too looking at all the padded bras in despair. All the non padded ones were scratchy and horrible.

Not for me they aren't. There are loads in my size.
